Five U.S. States Recall Tainted Beef

Health officials have announced that beef sold in five U.S. states has been recalled due to E. coli contamination. Little League baseball snack shacks in Napa County, California, used frozen ground beef patties that made several children ill.

Merced-based Richwood Meat Co. Inc. is recalling around 100,000 pounds of the frozen meat sold under Fireriver, Chef’s Pride, Ritz Food, Blackwood Farms, California Pacific Associates, C&C Distributing, Golbon and Richwood brands.

“Consumers should check their freezers for these products and destroy them or take them back to place of purchase to ensure they do not become ill,” said state public health officer Dr. Mark Horton.

  I wonder
What they do with this meat? Because obviously you could just cook the shit out of it into those typical "football" burgers and it would be edible. Seems like such a waste just to get rid of 100k lbs of meat due to a little poop juice.

  The temp for those interested.
Your cook Chicken, Beef Meats(all), and all other meats (except fish) to min of 165 degrees F.. (Fish is 155) internal temp. You serve cold type foods at 40 degrees or less.

You reheat things ONCE.. to a temp of 165 in a hour (I think on this one).. you hold the hot food at 140 or better..

To cool foods.. you must go to 70 in two hours or less, and then to 40 or under in another 2 hours.

If you do not you prove a nice growth medium for all sorts of nasties.

Beef only has to be cooked to that level if its ground beef (burgers sausages ect) steaks are fine with a few seconds on a hot pan for each side.

In this case, it was ground beef.

I don't mean to be picky or anything but...
In a story like this which potentially effects peoples health it would be nice to list the states affected. It's still a well written summary and i got what i needed from the source. if ou quest is for perfection however i think the states where you could potentially buy the tainted meat should have been listed.
