Who Said You Can’t Teach an Old Girl New Tricks?

Joyce Patrick has proved that you are never too old to learn, not when you have determination running through your veins. Bereaved 9 years ago when her husband died, she was totally defenseless as she depended on him right down to signing the cheques.

80 years hiding all her fears, Joyce at 83 boldly went where she had never dared to go before in 2002. She enrolled in a basic skills course, and today she both reads and writes and has enjoyed trying out a computer.

Her teacher May Youett said: "Joyce has given inspiration to other learners in the class as an older learner who persevered and achieved amazing results. Congratulations."

  I agree

you are never to old to learn. My husband has recently started using the computer and that has led us to have two in the house. 'His and hers' because I had to wait my turn and then in turn he had to wait. So two, solved the problem. I did not think he would have taken a liking to it at all but I am amazed at his willingness to learn. Yes sometimes he stuffs it up but thanks to my son-in-law especially, the problems were rectified. Mind you I still stuff up sometimes too.

You Sir are an imbecile, and I have serious doubts about your etiquette within a community board. Learn proper use of the english language or refrain from posting.

Good day.

That would be to 'speak' not spoke. Bwahhahahaha... Anywho.
Good Job CJ.

In Tanzania, by the year 1972, The government had eradicated illiteracy by almost 90%. Almost all Tanzanians were able to read and write.

Independence was achieved in 1961.
Illiteracy is stilla major problem amongst the senior citizens of the developed World and to make it worst, it is the embracing of the technology.

Many people are still afraid of touching a computer, or using TXT messages via cellphone.

Nice finding captainJane
