Falling Quilt Paralyses Man

China: The family of a man who was put in a coma and suffered a neck injury resulting in hemiplegia after a quilt fell on him is attempting to locate the owner of the damaging bedding.

The man was struck when the quilt fell from somewhere in a four-story building. His family wants compensation from the owner after they ran out of money to pay for treatment. They have threatened to involve the police if the owner isn't found soon.

"Doctors said there is hope for my husband to be able to stand up again if we continue treatment. But we have no income because I had to quit my job to take care of him around the clock," his wife said.

  Was it rolled up?
I have a hard time figureing out how a quilt could pick up enough speed to injure someone.

  real quilts
Appalachian quilts are tremendously heavy.... I imagine a chinese one of similar design could be lethal if whomping one on the head.

but four story's up only?
Meh, something doesn't add up here..unless the quilt was wrapped with a rock in it or something, its a quilt, and the drag would have slowed it. Just seems awfully fishy.

  Quilts are heavy
I think they are referring to the mattress side (called futon in Japan....not to be confused with those 'futon' sofas in the US)
they are dense and heavy, getting one on your head from 4th floor could snap your neck

getting hit by anything falling from 4 stories could really freakin' hurt.

  @ powerglide
I supposed if it had a lot of density to it could cause a lot of damage. I was thinking of a quilt that wasn't much thicker than a blanket. Now it makes sense.

Was someone under the quilt when it fell?

  This may sound cruel
but I'd like to see the Mythbusters take a look at this one.
