Police Officer Sues McDonald's Over Chicken and Phlegm Sandwich

Josh Douglas, a police officer from Iowa, is suing McDonald's over a chicken sandwich he purchased from a store which contained phlegm. Douglas only discovered the contamination while removing the lettuce and tomato because he didn't like them.

He and his partner returned to the store and two teenaged workers admitted to copying a movie where a cook spits on a burger ordered by a police officer. Both employees were fired. One later apologised to Douglas.

The officer attempted to negotiate a settlement for over a year before filing the lawsuit. Douglas says that he is more interested in accountability and safe food handling than the money.

I'm getting sick of hearing about this stuff.
I'm starting to feel eating food prepared where you can't see is a horrible idea. The punishment for what these kids do should be more than just losing their job.

I think you're absolutely right.

  Damn kids,
I never get enough phlegm on my burgers and the chicken sandwich has almost no phlegm at all. I mean, what are we paying for? It’s about time someone complained about the lack of phlegm on McDicks food.........what’s phlegm?

Phlegm (pronounced /fl?m/) is sticky fluid secreted by the typhoid membranes of animals. Its definition is limited to the mucus produced by the respiratory system, excluding that from the nasal passages, and particularly that which is expelled by coughing (sputum). Its composition varies, depending on climate, genetics and state of the immune system, but basically is a water-based gel consisting in glycoproteins, immunoglobulins, lipids, etc.

I hope this helps.

  I'm guessing
that the movie they wated was "Waiting..." which revolved around "getting back" at cutomers doing gross things to their food.

the movie was Super Troppers. Great movie, I suggest you rent it.

  This is in...
...just about every een movie ever made...ever.

It's a disgusting thing to happen but certainly isn't rare. I remember reading a discussion on IMDB where so many people thought it was ok to damage food/spit in it/whatever if they didn't like the customer. Absolutely ridiculous. Can you imagine it in any other job. Oh, I don't like that guy in that burning building so he's going to have to put out the fire himself

do you have a link to some video of phlegm?

  Stick with doughnuts
More than food hygene, it is an issue of teens not liking cops. I'm still debating if it is well deserved. Maybe next time these cops are asses to some teen for no reason...they will consider the fact that the teen's friends most likely work at a fast food joint.

  What's a
"Super Tropper"
  by: scooter17   06/01/2007 07:50 PM
Oh, I know Loogie, he lives just down the road with Sven Jorgensen. Always wondered about those two. Always though Loogie was a bit touched, especially when he says things like, “Throw the cows over the fence some hay.” So does this Loogie have one leg too?

  Definately Standard Practice
When I was a teenager I worked in an upscale resturaunt and this happened regularily. People could actually see us preparing the food though so spit was out of the question. Our favorate was to scrape the nasty gunk off our shoes and put it on peoples food before we cooked it. I'm also aware of other employees who would rub the meat on their meat before feeding it to certain unwelcomed customers.

Tetsuru, where did you work exactly???

"the movie was Super Troppers. Great movie, I suggest you rent it."

Actually, that could only be based upon speculation. The kid was jerking Rodney around with humorous banter and later the cop attacked him when he flipped the instant win sticker on his drink and sprung a leak.

Could have been from a range of movies.
Super Troops is quite good though.
