Mr. Wizard Dead at 89

Mr. Wizard, aka Don Herbert, a man whom many would claim was the US's greatest scientist, has died in his home at age 89 of multiple myeloma.

Mr. Wizard introduced millions of baby boomers to science on his televised program during the 1950s and 60s. Many of those kids went on to choose careers in the sciences because of him.

George Tressel, a National Science Foundation official, said in 1989 that all the scientists he's talked to cite his early influence, saying that Mr. Wizard taught them to think.

"cite his early influence, saying that Mr. Wizard taught them to think."

It's a shame that thinking is no longer encouraged..

  You will be missed.
I used to watch his show every morning on Nickelodeon also when I was a kid. It was my favorite show in the morning. I learned so many cool things that I never was told in school. We will miss you Mr Wizard! Another great mind has left us forever.
