Woman Charged Over 'Voting' Dog

Jane Balogh from Seattle has been charged with misdemeanor making a false statement to a public official and told that if she does not plead guilty she will face felony charges after she registered her Australian shepherd-terrier to vote.

Balogh says that she didn't place any valid votes in the dog's name and was just trying to show that it's simple for non-citizens to vote. "I was trying to prove that our system is flawed. So I got myself in trouble," she said.

Prosecutors will recommend she be fined $250 and be ordered to do 10 hours of community service. "[You] can't simply look the other way. They say you should let sleeping dogs lie, but you can't let voting dogs vote," said Prosecutor Dan Satterberg.

  Definitely
sounds like her story is plausible, since she didn't place any votes in the dog's name. Then again, it could go the other way too. But I'm pretty disillusioned with the general leadership at most levels, so I'de be more inclined to think they're just punishing her to cover their rears.
