Australian Traffic Authority: Speeding Drivers Have Small Penises

Australia: The New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority has launched a $1.9 million advertising campaign titled 'speeding - nobody thinks big of you' in an effort to make dangerous driving socially unacceptable.

One ad features a variety of people waving their pinkie finger, a youth culture gesture for a small penis, at speeding drivers. Another offers speeding drivers an "xtra xtra small" condom.

The controversial campaign, which is a response to research indicating that many drivers are becoming desensitised to images of accident carnage, has drawn a mixed reaction.

  The NSW government

has been running some... interesting advertising campaigns lately. Compare to http://www.shortnews.com/...

Can anyone tell where the government's collective mind is?

  So women dont speed?

Maybe they should have some with tiny bras or huge tunnels with a phrase hehe.

  Strange...

I'm pretty sure I'd just see that and laugh then keep on speeding. But hey... what else would you want to spend tax dollars on?

  In response,

I'm going to speed more, maybe if I get pulled over, my giant penis will redress the averages.

  I would not

recomend making those kind of jestures in California. You just might get your head blowed off. As for the female side of it, you could just end up in the court of justice for lewd expressions towards her. Thats California.

  um...

Has anybody told the ATA that some speeders haven't got a penis at all? I know, I know, it's a shock to some, but it's true. Policy wonks at the ATA should get out from behind their rule books and actually meet some of these speeders once in a while.

Good luck getting that ad campaign to work with those "deformed" drivers!(/sarcasm)

  @you morons

I'm sure you're all so brilliant that you can come up with an ad campaign effective against speeding that the government hasn't already tried?

If so, I'm sure they are eager to hear from you.

  Bravo!

I applaud campaigns like this. I've always thought that speeders have something to prove, if only that they don't care whether they live or die.

  @lauriesman

heres an add they can run...

a 16-25 year old guy trying to impress some attractive women, then show the most violent, gory crash ever recorded, then show a clean up crew scraping there grey matter off the road, then fade to a screen saying "if you speed this could be you".

Done it.

  @ anti speedign ads

like the anti drug ads none of them address the issue... that it is Fun, our brain sends chemicals to our brain making us feel good and give us the desire to do it again.

And really just because they want as many consumers in the world as possible to buy their crap products that are meant to entertain but none are any where near as fun as driving at high speed or any of the other things we're not allowed to do.

  @ this Ad

the Ad was almost believable until the last section when it is the male passangers in the back seat after the driver has done a burnout doing the finger thing.... and they have just past a law to limited the amount of passangers junior driver can carry because or peer pressure form those guys in the back seat to go do burnouts and stuff.

  by: veya_victaous     07/02/2007 04:01 AM
  yeah havoc

we get ads like that all the time, they have worked to reduce the rate, but people are getting used to them.

  Nothing will

ever work very well. Young people don't start thinking clearly until about 30 years old. Then they just start thinking clearly about how fast their car will go, and if they can beat that train to the crossing.

  Perhaps if

speed limits made sense, people would obey them?

Theres a duel carriageway near my house that's 20mph, it makes no sense.

  by: Gogevandire   07/02/2007 09:26 AM
  @ Gogevandire

Have you ever checked out if there is a school in the area or a hospital.
There is always a reason. I would suggest that you check with the local authorities just for fun to find out why the speed limit is so low.

  by: Rosko Sinep     07/02/2007 09:51 PM
  @Rosko

And a school is relevent at 3am because?

I'm all for changing the speed limits near schools when they're opening or closing, but not all the time, its just insane.

  by: Gogevandire   07/03/2007 09:16 AM
  @Rosko Sinep

Your right thats a definate death sentance for yourself in several places here in Cali. I also wouldn't try it in a few other places also. Like D.C. or Jacksonville Florida. They're not as bad, but pretty damn close to the bay.
