Chinese archaeologists uncovered an unrecorded underground chamber in the first Qin dynasty emperor’s (Chinese) tomb which is guarded by the Terracotta Army near the old imperial capital of Xian.
The tomb of Qin Shihuang was built over 2000 years ago and is described in historical records but not the new chamber. The chamber which is 30 metres (98 feet) deep and has 4 stepped walls was revealed by remote sensing technology.
While Emperor Qin’s brutality is renowned, he is considered a hero for making a united state. It has been suggested by a researcher that the undocumented chamber might have been built for the emperor’s soul.
