A two-year-old pitbull, who showed no previous signs of aggression, sexually assaulted a toddler on Sunday. "A little boy was home with his family, and the family pit bull actually sodomized the boy," said a police detective.
The 2-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and needed surgery. The family members and some neighbor's had to resort to beating the dog to stop its sexual attack on the boy. The family say they have had the dog since it was a puppy.
"The intent, apparently, wasn't to hurt the child. ... My understanding is the child had no bites on him at all. ... I guess the message is be respectful of a dog, until you absolutely know the animal," said the director of the local SPCA.
I personally dont think the fact that the dog was a pitbull had anything to go with the dogs aggresive sexual nature.. I have be humped by many small dogs and much to my surprize their owners this its "cute".. Seen many small dogs sexually attacking their own toys.. and thankful that dogs were small cause they could have easily attack a small child.
I knew pit bulls were dangerous but I never expected one to resort to rape. I hope they didn’t video this and put it on You Tube. I have to nominate this for “Weirdest Article of the Year”. I am speechless.
ANY dog breed can be dangerous if raised that way. I agree with daniel2508 in that I highly doubt that the pitbull's intenion was to harm that poor child in any way. I've seen plenty of nice, sweet, perfectly undangerous pitbulls. It's all in how they're raised. Too many people have the mentality of "oh, pitbull...that must be a dangerous, killer, hostile dog". BS I say!
I agree..its all on how the dog is raised, Rotweilers, Pitbulls, Dobermans, I've seen all of these dogs trained and brought up well and they are really harmless dogs, won't bite anyone or anything.. only thing is if you have a pitbull and raise it to bite people (or any other sort of "dangerous dog"), then because of their physical attributes, then they have the capability of being more dangerous.
and I agree with most people on here, maybe the dog didn't mean to do it, it could have just wanted some action, because dogs can get that way, and the child was the closest thing near.
I know exactly what you mean. It's incredibly stupid when the owners say, Oh thats cute. Do they really believe the dog is hugging you or do they love putting people in akward situations?

You are so right.. I have a 120lb Doberman and a 75lb German Shepherd.. along with small children... I have raised them both from a puppy, and they have never acted agressive in any way means towards us or the children.. They are great dogs..It's all in how you raise them..
Nope not kidding. We don't have to slaughter them though. A national law banning the breeding of K9s except for law enforcement use and mandatory castration of existing ones would suffice. Let them slowly die out over the next decade.

My mom has a Shitzu that humps her toy spider. She'll go at that thing for a good 3-5 minutes. Just goes to show you that it doesn't have to be a male dog.

I live near where this happened. Whether it happened as the story reports or not is still a mystery, as the auth. are taking DNA samples from the boy and no one is rushing to euth. the dog until everything is settled.
Some of you should first do some research into the likelyhood of this happening and then consider this, where were the parents?
When you are done there, try considering this....should I really buy into all of the media hype about what vicious, baby eating dogs pits are, or should I, as an educated person, research what they are really like, by nature, and punish the people who make them bad?
I am the owner of pits for the past 12 years. They are NOT by nature human aggressive dogs. This is a huge misnomer.
Consider 10-20 years ago, the same issues applied to Rots, Dobes, and Germ. Sheps.

They happen to be illegal to breed or buy where I live, and there is a mandatory castration law already in affect for existing pitbulls. So what I was proposing isn't that far fetched, as it is indeed law where where I live. With the pitbulls dying out and Cindy Sheehan moving to San Francisco with the other wackos my place of residence is looking more and more attractive every day.

Something is very wrong with this story. The kid was naked and alone with a dog? I suspect that the dog isnt the one responsible for the sexual assault of this poor kid. On the gross side of the equation, a 2 year old child would not have the strength to hold up a pitbull, and taking that into account, he would have been flattened by the dog, rendering the so called assault impossible. Anyone who has seen the um, "position" would know that this would be seriously unlikely. I hope they find the PERSON who did this to him.
You are wrong, the breed is massivly pre-disposed to violence againt humans and other animals. I worked in a animal shelter for 4 years and at least 80% of attacks were pitbull related. Most dogs need to be raised to be violent to be violent, pitbulls are the other way, unless trained well they are violent. Yes they can be trained, and yes they can be nice dogs, but MOST owners get them for the tough dog image and wont train it out of them. It is the reason the breed is now illegal in victoria australia. Buying them is illegal (not very well inforced, but illegal), having one before the law came in and it needs to wear a large red and yellow banded collor to reflect the fact its dangerious, and if it ever gets out all animal shelters and councils are required by law to euthenize and not release. This is the only breed with such a stance, and its a stance out of numbers, fact and evidence not one offs and rumour.
and it was around my daughter when she was a newborn up until she was three years old. My dog never did anything but protect my daughter. People need to understand if you are going to have a pitbull then some rules must be followed. 1)Do not change owners- they must be one owner dogs for life If they switch owners they lose trust in people. 2) Do not have pitbulls around other dogs - There nature makes them very agressive with other dogs and that can lead to attacks on humans as well. 3) Do not try beating the dog into submission - This only teaches the pitbull that violence is a means to get what it wants. Follow those rules and you will never have a problem. Oh and also..love it and take care of it like a family member..don't tie it up to a tree in the back yard like a lawn ornamnet.
There is not much information at the source. But I would be asking questions like, did the boy have pants on? If he did, did the dog pull them down? And how did the dog know exactly where to put it?
Ok, I guess I cant say much about dogs, im a cat person, but all my male cats ive had have been nuetered right away, because they spray nastyness otherwise (Yuck!!!) and they start YOWLING and... uh... licking themselves obsessively.

No, I am far from wrong. First, be knowledgeable in the fact that the name pit bull reflects a group of dogs, not one breed. If you would like to take the time to sefl-educate yourself, you can research the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and the American Pit Bull Terrier. None of the descriptions of these breeds acknowledges that they are human aggressive. They can be dog aggressive due to the human element that has interfered with their predisposition.
If you choose to remain one of the many uneducated sheep out there, then that is your option. However, the uneducated should not make judgement calls- period.
As I said before, I have owned these breeds for over 12 years. I have small children. My mother also owns them as does 2 other family members.
Pay attention, because today it is the pit breeds, yesterday it was the Rotties, Shepherds, and Dobes. Tomorrow, it may be your breed. What then?
When will you admit to human error? Also, as I said, look up the Little Rascals, that was a 'pit' as were the beauties that graced the cover of Life magazine- three times. Do some research and you will find a lot more.
I live in Buffalo where this story happened. There was an interview on the news. She was changing her baby on the floor, and went to the other room (to get a diaper i think) at this point the dog came up to the baby and did his thing...
Its 90% the womans fault for leaving the baby alone on the floor with the dog. and 10% her fault for not having the dog neutered or to have a female for him.
That sometimes in canine societies a male dog wanting to prove its dominance to another male dog will mount the other male dog. Its possible the dog was just trying to show his dominance to the little boy and had no idea that what he was doing was signing his death warrent.
I think the parents should be investigated. To let the toddler run around with no diaper on near the family pet. I breed dogs and the chances of the dogs penis becoming hard enough to just by chance make it into the tiny anus of a two year old is not likey.And for the parents to immediatly say to put the dog down, they are focusing attention away from them. I have a rootie and I have had dobes, I'm well educated in the large k-9 breeds and well aware that the human error of training and reenforcing the wrong disposition is key. It's irrelevant. If you can't safely own a pet without training, then even being able to own a pit bull breed would require testing and licensing. If you screw up, someone gets hurt.
When was the last time you heard about a cat raping or mauling a person to death? Or even being attacked by a pack of cats? (wild ones don't count by the way)
WHen my daughter was three we got an adult Germany Shep dog from the pound...within days he was trying to knock her down and mate with her. We took him to the vet to have him neutered, which alleviated *some* of the behavior but not all...never trusted him around her and eventually found a good home for him...parents need to take precaution when pets are in the home. It does not matter if he was a life long resident or not--he is still an animal. That poor baby boy.
