Couple Prohibited from Naming Son '4Real', Plan to Name Him 'Superman' Instead
New Zealand: Parents Pat and Sheena Wheaton have indicated that they will attempt to name their son 'Superman' if they fail in their attempt to overturn the registrar of births, deaths and marriages' rejection of the name '4real.'
The name was chosen as a reaction to an untrasound [SN reported]. The law stipulates that names cannot begin with a number, but the Wheatons argue that if a name can end with a number (eg. John William II), they should be able to start with a number.
The law also suggests that parents avoid names that could result in their child being tormented. Previously, New Zealand officials have prevented parents from using names such as 'Adolf Hitler' and 'Satan.'
should be taken away from these parents. They obviously care little for the child and are just using it to get their 15 minutes of fame. If they like the name Superman so much the father should change his name to it first, but no he wont, as he wouldnt want the ridicule. But its ok for it to be the childs, because the parents dont care. Take this child away, if the parents care this little for its well being at this stage it is guarentted to be neglected later on.

They obviously don't give a damn about the fact that their child will be mercilessly bullied with a name like that. Kids are cruel enough without giving them an extra reason to single someone out. The parents obviously have no regard for the welfare of their kid.
If you're going to name him super-anything, AT LEAST make it something original. For example, <deleted by admin> or supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
I think the government should allow them to name their child whatever they wish under 1 stipulation though. They have to take a public caning or whipping. No less than 20 lashes. Then I say they will have earned it. If they not willing to take a beating for the name then why should the kid?
Btw - The parents should be able to name their child whatever they want... When did everyone jump on the bandwagon to meddle with peoples decisions... you can't use your own experience to decide what will happen with the name 4Real or Superman..hell he might become one of the most level headed people you know.
.. that the parents probably deserve some "behavioral modification" but at the same time do parents not have the freedom to name their child whatever they want? Why should the government get a say in what is an acceptable name or not?
agreed "4real" and "superman" are stupid as shit... but come on we have "moon child"'s and "rainbow"'s and "dream" from the 60s come on guys... this is really the parents decision while you may think its ridiculous to name a kid 4real or superman , its sad you actually think the goverment should have a say in this... kids go by other names if they dont like there name, hell it could be any name thats disliked i mean, People name their kids dick... you could give the same argument the kid will face ridicule for being named after a part of the human anatomy, bottom line 4real is a stupid name, but the goverment meddling in the naming of kids is even stupider...
