Researchers analyzing 850 cases of bone marrow and lymphatic cancers diagnosed from 1972-80 show that children who spent the first 5 years of their life living within 328 yards of power lines had a 500% higher chance of getting cancer later in life.
Children who lived for any time at all within that distance before age 15 still had a 300% higher chance. Published in the Internal Medicine Journal, the study is a joint effort between Britain's Bristol University and the University of Tasmania.
