Study Says Guinness is Good for you

Recent research carried out by a team of experts from Wisconsin University has confirmed that a pint of Guinness a day is really good for you as the old advertising slogan suggests.

The research concludes that the "antioxidant compounds" found in Guinness are similar to those found in certain fruits and vegetables allowing the stout beer to works as well as aspirin in the prevention of heart clots.

Diageo, which now manufactures Guinness however said "We never make any medical claims for our drinks" and reiterated their calls for "responsible drinking."

  Guinness sales falling in Ireland

It’s a shame their sales are falling in Ireland , due to all the twats ordering really fancy beers in silly glasses , didn’t stop me from downing 10 pints of the old black on my brothers stag in Dublin this summer though and thanks to lifeline http://www.getalifeline.com/ absolutely no hangover .

  Guinness

I'm not much of a beer drinker. I generally drink cheerleader beer, Smirnoff Ice and whatnot, because I like the flavor.

But, NOTHING beats a good tall Guinness.

  actually

There's a pub in Dublin (the Porterhouse) that brews it's own stout called Plain and lists on the wall all the crap that goes into Guinness in an attempt to make their own look more natural and home made. Some love it I still prefer Guinness which BTW isn't the only Irish Stout , don't forget Beamish and of course Murphys .
I've done that adolescent thing in my time and tried a million obscure beers from all over the world in an attempt to look more sophisticated but at the end of the day if it's not draught it always just tastes like bottled beer...imho

Doesn't it taste a bit too strong?

i remember trying a few sips and everytime i ended up with a pained look on my face from the strength of the taste!

  I've tried

to drink Guinness...it's just way to heavy and bitter for me. I can't do it. For me the lighter the better. I love a good beer...mmmmmm

  well...

I think we've known all along that a pint of Guinness was just like a meal (you can eat it with a spoon)... but I don't think many of us suspected that it was actually a healthy meal.

I don't see how you could down 10 pints-I felt like I had been eating at a buffet after 3!
And btw- drinking Guinness in the US does not count. I can't drink it here anymore after tasting it in Ireland. It tastes nothing like the real thing.

it's not that great in Britain either.(In Ireland people always say it's not the same once it goes over the water) Come to think of it it's not that hot in some pubs in Dublin ...you have to go to a good Guinness Pub and even than some people are picky about who pulls their pint but most are just happy to get one :-)

Note to everyone going to Dublin stay away from the Temple Bar even if the pub does have great music and is full of diddley-I-diddley touristy crap it's 5.50 a pint of Guinness ...holy crap!

I overheard someone talking about the canned Guinness with the widget thing once saying "it's not bad sort of like a pint you'd get in the Stags Head at about ten oclock" ...

Anyway keep a close eye on Guninness my bet is they'll move production from Dublin pretty soon the factory at St James Gate is worth so much just for the real estate it's standing on I'm sure Diago won't think twice about moving production somewhere else and keeping a reduced Irish production line just to keep the Irish connection thing going.

Oh the 10 pint thing was an all dayer and we stuffed in some food with that too . There were others who scoffed more than that ...believe me.
