Male Birth Control Pills to be Used Soon

New methods of contraception were presented at "Future of male Contraception" conference, held in Seattle.

Men will be able to use non-hormonal pills, sperm blockers, testosterone-like pills and home sperm tests for contraception.

Among men, more than half agreed to use male contraception.

  hmm

This is where I suddenly start to see a girl's reservations about going on the pill!

What is it going to do to my body in the long term? Will my orgasms feel the same? Will I still ejaculate something?

I think pills for cosmetic purposes such as contraception are a very bad idea. At least the female pill can be used for heavy periods. There is no benefit to a male pill - just wash your penis after sex and the woman will never fall pregnant - does everyone not know this?

You've got it all wrong! It's beans. If she eats beans, then she will get pregnant! :)

Or was that peas? :)

you BOTH got it all screwed up. you just make the lady get on top, and then she wont get pregnant.

or wait a second. ... was it the woman putting an aspirin between her knees, and holding it there? meh.

Oh what's that, honey? You don't want to have sex
anymore because you've gained 30 pounds on the
pill and you have a poor self image now? Aw, too
bad. Well go deal with it while I find a thinner,
hotter guy to cheat on you with.

Man, finally, some even ground! This is gonna be
great!

While I think it's totally great to have more options
and more back up plans. . . the evil in me can't help
but be happy to start spreading around all those
awesome side effects that us gals have to deal with
while boys just accuse us of being in "that time of
the month" everytime we have a bad mood because
of the damn hormone pills we take.

Sweet, sweet justice.

And fewer unwanted children! Double word score!

You sound a little tense.

Is it that time of the month?

haha, nice!

Sorry, I let my giddiness get away with me earlier.

What I meant to say is that I'm very happy that more
is being done to provide more and better options
for responsible sex. If every child was a wanted
child, think how much happier the world would be!

And, no, it's not that time of the month. . . I'm
always this evil. :-) But thanks for the excuse. I
don't use that one enough!

I agree with you totally. If every child was a wanted child, that alone could solve many of the world's problems.

At least in first world countries.

Everywhere, man. Think of the starvation issues in
the 3rd world countries. Too many mouths to feed.
Too many children to support. People have to put
their kids in orphanages just because they can't
feed them.

It's terrible.

Population control alone could solve so many
things.

I'm so thankful that I can provide for my child (a
product of failed birth control). . . we live on a
budget, to be sure, but he's one of the lucky ones.
I can afford to provide for him, which is less stress
on me, which means a happier childhood for him.

I wish it were that way for everyone.

I gained weight on birth control so fast. It just
hated me. And hormonal weight is the hardest to
lose and the hardest for people to understand. It'll
be nice to be able to spread the responsibility
around a bit. Ahhh, just another step towards
equality and empathy.

I never did understand the term "Birth Control"

I mean it's very simple. To control birth. I got the best idea anyone guess it? How about...duh da DA! Abstinence! But I like my orgasm. Then you like the chance to get pregnant. Just like female pills don't always work, just because this pill exists doesn't mean it will work correctly. And I have to repeat Anglo's question. "What is this going to do to my body in the long run?" I'm really not in favor of women using the pill or even the use of condoms. All that does is what I like to call play with the fire ants. You can only play with the ants so long before eventually one bites you. The pills and/or condoms might work 9 out of 10 times but what about that 1. That 1 means guess what...you're pregnant!? And then the whole question to abort or not to abort. Forgive me for saying but abortion is wrong. If men and women kept their legs closed more they wouldn't even have to endanger an unborn child's life like that. Before you use your heart and your crotch, sometimes you got to use your brain.

I'm pretty sure the female pill is over 99.9% effective, you can bet that a lot of the people who do actually conceive whilst taking the pill do so because they weren't taking it properly. A lot of contraceptive pills need to be taken at the same time each day, so if you take one a few hours late it might be less effective. Also, if you vomit or have diarrhoea then that can affect it too. Then there are the people who just forget to take their pill one day, which screws up the whole cycle until the next month.

I don't see why people should practise abstinence, I'm not saying everyone should go out and have one night stands, but why shouldn't a couple be able to have a sexual relationship without worrying about having a child that they don't want or don't want just yet, when there are plenty of methods of contraception available?

As far as the male pill goes, I would only trust a man to take it if I lived with him and saw him take it every day. It's not just a case of not trusting their word, they might just be forgetful! If I forgot to take a pill, then I'd know about it and if I got pregnant I'd be the one left to deal with it, whereas a man could forget to take his pill, impregnate a woman, then she's left to deal with the problem on her own. If a man forgets to take his pill, it's not like he's going to end up pregnant! This is the main reason that female pills will always be more popular than the male equivalent.

  I see no benefit..

When used by the promiscuous..

The only benefit I can see with this is with a monogamous couple who uses this in conjunction with a properly administered (read: taken daily, same time) female birth control pill.. or because of side effects preventing the female from taking contraception pills.

What I ultimately see in this is an huge influx in STD's.. and single mothers

"No, Baby.. don't worry, we don't need to use a condom.. I'm on the male birth control pill"

I am a sexually active 25 year old male who has many.. many.. friends who will tell a girl annnnything the girl wants to hear to get her in bed.. this ultimately works in the favor of men wanting a non-protected one night stand.. and for the makers of Valtrex.

Also, how many people have gotten pregnant in lou of responsibley taking the pill in the past..

I see many births till the kinks in this product are worked out.. and like I said.. a lot more one night stand induced itches rash's and "flare ups".

  it's silly really

but this would mean that the women who get pregnant on purpose to trap men in relationships/monthly payments would have a harder time at it. may have to change strategy completely. and cheating men wouldn't have to worry about getting a jealous mistress pregnant.
something to think about.

"Forgive me for saying but abortion is wrong."

Yes in a perfect world I would agree with you, however one very definite situation where a woman has every right to an abortion is when they have been raped.

I guess it's good that there's a male pill too, I would expect my girlfriend to take the pill if I had to though as i'm sure there's side effects to both.
