Man Convicted of DUI on a Skateboard

Australia: 22-year-old Carey Mitchell Symes has been fined $300 after pleading guilty to drink-driving. Symes had been weaving across lanes at speed and going through traffic lights on a skateboard while holding a can of rum.

When police stopped him his blood-alcohol content was .095. He reportedly told officers he was riding a skateboard because he was too drunk to drive. The magistrate recorded a conviction but did not suspend his licence.

"You were affected by alcohol and screaming down a hill towards a road intersection. You could have got yourself killed or caused accidents to other people on the road by your conduct," said magistrate Tom Killeen.

if he hadn't been in the road and stuck to bike paths or sidewalks or whatever Australia has for pedestrians then he probably would've gotten away with it.

  I dont know

About over there but in england the only "vehicle" you cant be charge with drink driving is a horse and cart because a horse wont willingly crash its self into a wall so it is deemed "in control". But other than that u can get done of being drunk on a bike skates any thing with wheels realy. it used to be a few years back now that farm and industrial plant was not covered either but they changed after loads of farmers and workmen were driving dumpers and forklifts to the pub.

  Here in Texas

you can get a DUI on a horse.

A skateboard makes sense though. If you run from the police, it is a felony if you are on wheels -- any wheels. Skates, skateboards, unicycles, all will get you a felony. Kinda wierd, eh? Running from the police on a horse is less serious than a skateboard...
