Boy Hired Hit Man to Kill Parents for Playstation Punishment

Teenager Cory Ryder, 17, from Maryland allegedly hired a hit man to kill his parents after they took his PlayStation away as a punishment.

Cory’s mother Shannan and stepfather Joey Troiano heard of his threats and an undercover cop posed as an assassin to snare the teenager.

Cory denies that he intended to have his parents killed. His mother says, “I’m scared to death that if this kid is serious, and they put him in a three-month programme, they're going to release him to the street.”

Wonder why she calls her son this kid?

No wonder I'm so f***ed parents never beat me! I wish they could have been more considerate, damn them. Now it makes perfect sense.

that is what I thought. I get the impression from the source that she feels disconnected from him. That might be an underlying issue. I also get the feeling that the kid has some mental health problems. (to say the least)

  On the whole 'hitting' issue...
Just remember this very simple thing - you hit a child to connect the feeling of pain to an event. Its simple Pavlovian type psychology where you try and disuase them from doing the action because the memory of the result stops them.

EXCEPT you wouldnt have to bloody do that if your children respected you enough to listen to what you had to say and believed in you enough to follow what you ask them to do. Funny because I was never hit by my paents either and I dont recall myself being problematic in any way. Respect and that sort of bond with your children.. hmm, 2007, is that a belief that doesnt exist anymore?

From what I seem to be seeing, clearly. Ah who cares, live and let die sadly :/

I'd assume it has something to with him hiring a hitman.

perhaps he was playing hitman on his ps when the took it off him, thats where he got the idea ;)

This kid is dumb. If you're hiring a hitman, why would you tell your parents? What kind of place does this kid live in that he could hire a hitman anyway? I also picked up on her referring her own son as "this kid". She's worried that they might release him. If you had star parenting skills maybe your kid would love you instead of trying to kill you. Kids are products of their environment. Perhaps the mother should read Lynne Spears' book on parenting when it comes out or perhaps she can be a "for instance" in the book. Hmm...

A low life evil selfish brat.

I disagree with what has been said about of you hit them they only relate to the violence because sometimes youth need to learn if they hurt they will be hurt back it is dangerous when they think they are invincible.
I would use cameras and if he ever came near my property again call the cops, they should have a court order to keep him miles away and let him take care of his own sorry ass.

All your parents do is beat you, then yes, you will only associate violence with the action. However, if you recieve corporal punishment and then have an explanation stated as to why you were given corporal punishment then usually it doesn't beget violence. I'm speaking as an adult who, as a kid, only responded to corporal punishment. My parents tried all the other methods, time out, talking, I just didn't respond appropriately. On the converse not every kid needs this type of punishment system. One system does not cover the various personality types, don't be naive enough to assume what worked for you is the status quo.
