Information on a Washington elementary teacher on paid leave for being drunk on the job recently is slowly coming out, and some are wondering why a paycheck is still being issued by the Wapato school district, who is not saying much about it.
According to witnesses, first-graders on a field trip to a corn maze were left to wander on their own while the teacher vomited and got into the bus and passed out. The superintendent is dragging its feet on providing concerned parents with answers.
Investigators say the teacher's criminal history, including finding the teacher's child in a car alone by a bar and a more recent DUI charge, was missed because it happened during the summer when the district and students are on break.
