The Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq who was quoted by a British MP as saying British Muslims were too extreme (SN Reported) has said that his words were "taken out of context and misconstrued".
Dr Barham Salih said the “overwhelming majority" of British Muslims were true to the tolerant spirit of Islam and were law abiding citizens.
Speaking of his visit to the mosque in Blackburn he said, "I was heartened to hear of the Imam preaching tolerance and inclusiveness.” The deputy Iraqi PM went on to say his comments were used to "unjustly" given British Muslims a bad name.
