A total of 200 youths of which 70 were pupils of the Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria, were involved in an event that left many of the girls involved undergo emergency contraception through help of school, and a boy hospitalized.
The village hall committee allowed the students to use the village hall for arranging their end of Year 11 party, not knowing that no adults were responsible in arranging the event, in which sex, drug abuse and violence took place.
"All hell let loose at this event. The children were drunk to the eyeballs. They were having sex in the village square standing up." is how Alan Day, village hall chairman, described the party. A two-page letter of details was sent to the parents.
