Man Convicted After Falsely Accusing Wombat of Rape

New Zealand: 48-year-old Arthur Ross Cradock has been sentenced to 75 hours of community service and warned not to reoffend after pleading guilty to using a phone for a fictitious purpose when he called police claiming he was being raped by a wombat.

The rape claim followed an earlier call to the police communications centre in which he told them he would "smash the filth" if they attended his residence. He called a third time, giving his name and retracting the rape claim.

He reportedly told the purplexed operator: "I'll retract the rape complaint from the wombat, because he's pulled out. Apart from speaking Australian now, I'm pretty all right you know, I didn't hurt my bum at all."

  Aww

the wombat is cute, but you had to choose a picture of one with his bits in full view didn't you! lol

  WELL...

I guess he changed his mind after a little pillow talk from the wombat. They are very convincing marsupials - for almost two months in a relationship with a wombat I found out he was seeing two other people. When confronted, he only snorted at me and continued to eat the bark breakfast I had made for him.

I can't believe such a beautiful, stubby-legged, and strapping quadruped could have a heart so full of malice. So, personally, I do feel for this poor man.

I was trying to find a picture that would give some idea of scale.

@Rough Ian
What did you expect from an organic concrete block that is capable of killing a car even in death? Sensitivity?

I actually thought about running him over with my car but I just love him too much. Plus, you know, what you said: it would hurt my car more than it would hurt him.

By the way, we're still together. It's our six-month anniversary next week. Everyone is invited to the Rough Ian and Steve Life Partners Celebration, which is going to be on Steve's yacht just off the coast of Sydney.

He likes to be called Steve in public but Steven when we're being intimate.

Have a look at the picture in the link from theage.com.au that I posted. If you're ok waking up next to that then go for it, otherwise I suggest something a little milder.

  Wombats are sneaky little buggers

Them & dropbears. Wombats will sneak up behind you and have their sordid way with you. Dropbears get you in the bush on the darkest nights. Make the crocs look like goannas.

LOL! That article is pretty funny, the wombat's expression is priceless! I'd probably be a bit scared if I woke up next to that though :-/

  i'm worried

while looking at the wombats package (yeah, i'm a perv)

I noticed that everything looks upside down? how does this beast procreate? while standing on its head or leaning over backwards?

"Wombats are sneaky little buggers".

Maybe so but that doesn't give someone the right to file a false rape against them. I smell a lawsuit against the POS Arthur Cradock. I hope they cut his balls off!

  Japanese

I had a Japanese student that lived with my family for like a month. And we had him convinced by the time that he left that there were dropbears in the trees and they would jump on you and kill you. Needless to say he developed some what of a complex towards most of Australia native animals.

I always warn Pom visitors about redbacks under the dunny seat when they visit from overseas. I swear they use the toilet less, and are sweating fear when they go, and majorly relieved on their return.
