New Zealand: 48-year-old Arthur Ross Cradock has been sentenced to 75 hours of community service and warned not to reoffend after pleading guilty to using a phone for a fictitious purpose when he called police claiming he was being raped by a wombat.
The rape claim followed an earlier call to the police communications centre in which he told them he would "smash the filth" if they attended his residence. He called a third time, giving his name and retracting the rape claim.
He reportedly told the purplexed operator: "I'll retract the rape complaint from the wombat, because he's pulled out. Apart from speaking Australian now, I'm pretty all right you know, I didn't hurt my bum at all."
