Denmark: The Topless Front, a group campaigning for bare chested men and women to be treated equally, has won a major victory with the Copenhagen Culture and Leisure Committee voting to allow women to swim and walk around topless at swimming pools.
The victory is a result of a year of campaigning. The group drew inspiration from similar protests in Sweden. (SN reported) One Swedish protest leader wants breasts desexualised to the point women can "pull off [their] shirts at football matches."
"I cannot understand what some people find so offensive about women's breasts. This decision is important in order to stop the idea that women's bodies are only sex objects," said Frank Hedegaard from the Socialist People's Party.
