Liver Cirrhosis Reversed in Rats

Liver Cirrhosis is a deadly ailment caused by heavy drinking or Hepatitis B and C. Japanese scientists have found that it can be reversed in rat experiments by 'tricking' the liver with artificial molecules they have designed.

Cirrhosis in the liver is caused when some liver cells start to produce collagen and causes the liver to deteriorate. Scientists have packaged the artificial molecules in Vitamin A causing them to be absorbed . This stops the collagen secretion.

Liver stellate cells produce the collagen and also absorb vitamin A so by 'tricking the cells into absorbing Vitamin A coated artificial inhibitors the production is halted. The liver then begins to regenerate. Human trials may begin in'a few years'.
