30 Years Passed Since the First Spam Message Was Sent

 

30 years ago, a marketing representative sent the first spam. He managed to deliver the unsolicited e-mail bulk message to every West Coast computer on the Arpanet.

The anti-spam body, Spamhaus, announced that almost 90 percent of all e-mail is in fact spam and 80 percent of all spam is delivered from about 200 people worldwide.

The term "spam" was inspired from the Monty Python sketch, where in a restaurant, which offered only processed meat, several Vikings sang "Spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam."

Go after the companies/organizations paying people to use spam advertising. Unfortunately it won't happen, because goodness forbid there be /less advertising/..
