Father Kept Daughter in Cellar for 24 Years; Fathered Her 7 Children

A 73-year-old man has been arrested in Vienna, Austria after his 42 year-old daughter told police that he kept her locked in a cellar room, repeatedly raped her, and fathered her children.

The woman told police her father started abusing her when she was 11. Her father kept her locked in a cellar room since August 28, 1984. In the next 24 years, she was continually abused and gave birth to 7 of her father's children, though one died.

Police have assured the woman that her remaining 3 girls and 3 boys, ranging in age between 5 and 20, will be taken care of. The father has not confessed, but DNA tests will determine his paternity of the children.

he probably won't live another 24 years for him to be locked in a cellar. Lets just kill him.

  Should be put down

I don't want the death penalty for revenge. This guy should never be released and will only be a burden on society. If the evidence turns out to support this story then he should be put down just like you would with any rabid dog.

I would gladly both pay for the bullet and pull the trigger

  His family supported this?

Slightly different text: http://www.cnn.com/...

"Schmiberger said the man apparently lived upstairs with his wife, with whom he had seven other children, adding to the mystery of why no one told Austrian authorities about the man's other family living in the cellar."

If this is true and they knew about it they should all be held equally accountable.

  I can't think...

of anything mean enough for him, YET!

I heard this in the car coming back from Wales, and had my fingers ready to tap out the summary but nicohlis beat me to it. Hey-ho. :(

Well written. /;0)

  I think

the daughter should get to decide what punishment the father gets. What a horrible thing!

I have nausea of that story.

  What a truly sick individual

to do that to anyone, let alone his own daughter.

It also mentions that he was married with more kids, how could his wife allow this to go on in her own home? She must have known about it and turned a blind eye, how could any woman marry a man and have children with him, knowing what he was doing to his own daughter? Did she never worry that he might abuse the kids he had with her too? Just the sight of him would make my skin crawl, what a disgusting man, I hope he burns in hell.

  The wife/family knew

There's just no way around it.

"Honey, what's that noise in the basement? It sounds like a family of 8 living in a 100 sq ft room."

  by: barryman9001   04/28/2008 05:58 PM
  In the source

it says that the woman was locked in the basement with 3 of her children, the other 3 children were living with the father/grandfather and his wife in the main house. The wife must have known what was going on, how else would he explain where the kids came from, unless they had been living in the house with him before he met the wife?

  One wonders

what the wife had to do with all of this. Hmmm?

by: grumpy ray     04/29/2008 07:56 AM
  @ Grumpy

The wife was obviously the original abused soul and when her daughter took over she was probably very relieved that the focus of attention was not on her in a very sad tormented sort of way.

  @sleeky

It doesn't say whether the guy's wife was the mother of this girl/woman. I just assumed that he married her later on and that she wasn't the mother. I could be wrong, I just can't imagine the mother allowing this to go on, but hey, I can't imagine many fathers doing this either!

I am absolutely repulsed! Death is too good for this man, he should be tortured for the rest of his life.
