High School Students Caught Swapping Nude Pictures

Recent headlines showed how teen girls at a NJ high school were sharing nude pictures of themselves. It is happening again but this time in Tampa, FL. Student Samantha Stephens said, "It's just a bad, bad, bad idea."

Some of the x-rated images managed to get into the hands of the high schools boys, who passed them around on laptops and cell phones. Attorney David Tirella said that the teens don’t realize they are one step away from felony porn charges.

Student Rachel Mentcow said, the girls appeared to be happy about displaying naked pictures of themselves and, "I just see them walking around school and they don't seem to care. They're like, 'Yeah, I know everybody knows what I look like naked.’"

High school.

  I'm pretty sure...

I saw a story nearly exactly like this on SN a couple months ago. Someone should totally f' these kids' parents up hard. It's not rocket science - kids don't need camera phones. Idiots.

  Oh dear god...

...I hope the police are taking immediate action here. It only a matter of time before the peadophiles get their hands on these pictures, follow the girls home and rape and murder them. I can only suggest closing off every road within 50 miles of the school until these pictures are found and launched into space.

My god, when I was at school such a thing would have hardly been spoken of outside the school, now it gets international media attention.

This country is f*cking ridiculous.

"I just see them walking around school and they don't seem to care. They're like, 'Yeah, I know everybody knows what I look like naked.’"

So what? Who cares if someone knows what you look like naked? We are all naked underneath our clothes. This country is so uptight that it makes me sick sometimes. Its like when there was the nipple slip during the SuperBowl a few years ago resulting in a crackdown by the FCC with millions of dollars in fines and all kinds of new regulations. Why are Americans so afraid of their bodies? Its pitiful.

Now someone's going to say "What about the children! Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?!??!" Hey, high school kids are not children. 16-17 is fully physically developed (or close to it) for many, especially those willing to show themselves off I would suspect. Now to threaten a bunch of horny high school kids with felony charges is just f*ckin' nuts.

I just noticed the source is foxnews. that explains a lot...

  by: Ub3rTristan   06/12/2008 06:07 PM
  Oh, for sure...

The charges are stupid, but the kids and their parents are just as stupid. I'll never fall on the side of censorship, but have some g**damned decency and self-respect, PLEASE.

  I'm fairly certain

That has nothing to do with the US. I'll even go as far as to say it happening everywere. Naked, big deal, naked is so unatural. And people just cant desire to see others naked nor desire to be seen naked.

and Internet are technology that brings both good and bad. It's up to humans to figure out how they are going to use it. It can turn us all into the lowest common denominator or lift us up to greatness. Some will choose one path others will choose the other. That is the way life has been since it began. The difference is that now we are all exposed to both paths.

"Females continue to develop physically until around the age of 18, whereas male development continues until around age 21."

^ From wikipedia. And from what I understand, males can sometimes experience another growth spurt between the ages of 23 and 27.

Look it up before bulls***ing us next time.

  OMG!

Is there no end to the depths of depravity civilization is sinking into? And to nofattieskthx 's comment, " kids don't need camera phones. Idiots.", AMEN. They all should just immediately go to their rooms after school and do their homework and then off to bed. Nosiree, can't allow these younguns to be running wild in the streets. Heaven forbid. Oh, I think I'm going to pass out.

According to the Tanner Stages, a commonly used method of describing puberty, (in females), the final stage (stage 5) is around age 16, with no further height increase after this time, but this would obviously depend on a variety of factors. A girl who enters puberty on the lower end of the spectrum, say around age 11 (Tanner Stage notes menarche averages 12.7 years of age with the range being approx 10.8-14.5), may advance in other ways at an earlier age than her peers as well.

To say that I am "bullsh*tting" everyone by saying that for *many* -not all- girls, 16-17 is fully developed or close to it. And for the record, 16-17 is "around" the age of 18, off by a year or so. I'm sure there are many girls who aren't done developing until 19-20, with the average laying somewhere around 18. Furthermore, development is different from individual to individual, so there is no set rate at which one will develop. Additionally, development is getting earlier and earlier in the modern age, probably due to increased nutrition.

So please don't accuse me of bullsh*tting people unless I actually am. Thanks.

  by: Ub3rTristan   06/12/2008 07:08 PM
  Bah

Bah - I should have read that over. I should have said in the second paragraph "To say that I am "bullsh*tting" everyone by saying that for *many* -not all- girls, 16-17 is fully developed or close to it is way off base." There we go - sentence fragment repaired.

  The Right to Rant

I guess to some it's becoming part of pop culture that no one ever 'regrets' doing anything. There's no shame for anything that could be considered a mistake or an exhibition of poor judgement (which is a part of growing and maturing but c'mon, there should still be limits). But whether my daughter is 8 or 18, I would like for her to hold some things sacred. Not that the human form is something to freak out about, but also not something to handle wrecklessly. I teach her that her body is a gift, first FROM God, then, FOR her husband. I teach her values that aren't simply based on what the 'cool' people are doing, but values that foster respect....beginning with self-respect.
Of course, everyone has the right to disagree and post naked pictures of themselves where ever they please, and I wouldn't presume to tell anyone how to raise their children, but when you (no one in particular) see the lack of discipline and respect exhibited by today's youth, perhaps you should write a best seller to help us all get back on track. </rant> and it's not just on foxnews : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...

  Felony porn charges

I bet you they do something stupid like put ADULT charges on 16 or 17 year olds for showing pictures of their own 16 or 17 year old bodies for CHILD pornography.

Does that make any sense? Will the law just descide what 14-17 is?

I hate when a 14 year old when convenient becomes an adult if he robs a liquor store (usually a black kid they conveniently like to try as an adult) but then you have some hoochie 16 taking pictures of herself and suddenly she is a child and whoever sees the pictures are in trouble.

You can't pick and choose, they need to descide what 14-17 is.

I love to catch a Predator show. It is funny to see those guys caught. Hilarious. I know it is a sick way to amuse myself. What I do hate though is the hypocrisy. You do have some hoochie 14-17 year olds (as proven by this article) who are nasty little girls who'll take pictures of themselves naked, don't even care and then go looking for older men on line. Then when that older man gets caught she suddenly becomes a victim and she is magically a child.

I'm sorry but she is an accomplice not a victim.

  by: shawn1flog   06/12/2008 10:26 PM
  Yep

They did it
http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/...

Magically the teens are adults for sending pictures of girls who pictured themselves and sent them out.

Same age as each other but one is now an adult facing felony charges and the other is magically a child who has no consequence for taking a picture of herself in the first place.

Man cannot direct himself.

  Losing battle

This won't stop and you can't stop it. Every one of these kids that doesn't have a digital camera will have a webcam built into the laptop or a camera built into the cell phone.

  the naked body DOES NOT equal bad

my god it frustrates me the amount of people who are so adament that we should all be ashamed of what we look like naked and hide it from the world forever.
And nofattieskthx dont rely on wikipedia, its not reliable information often very outdated and opinionated. If you want to be credible quote a biology book or the like, something that was wrote by an expert on the subject of human development, not an internet user with a high school biology pass who thinks he is a god (not saying all entries are like this but most are).

  Hmm

@barryriley
"It only a matter of time before the peadophiles get their hands on these pictures, follow the girls home and rape and murder them."

As if pictures have a magical quality that causes the mind to lose all power over its senses in the mind of a rapist. If someone is going to rape someone, they have already made a decision to go that route. Which also brings about the often noted point. A paedophile is not necessary a rapist, and paedophiles, technically speaking are not attracted to teens who have already hit puberty. Not trying to justify them, but we need to be clearer on the definitions.

@shawn1flog
"I'm sorry but she is an accomplice not a victim. "

By joe man, I like the way you think.

Stupid, like saying "internet caught containing pornography!!"

@nofattieskthx
What you understand is complete nonsense, not to mention the extreme end of development isn't the moment sexual interest or adulthood begins. It is a gradual process beginning in childhood. Doesn't that sound perverse? Well...you answer that one.

top amount of posts on shortnews everytime. I wonder what that means?

  by: Kuhl   06/13/2008 08:28 AM
  Simple..

It means that sex and sexuality is a very hot topic. Especially when you consider how sexually repressed most 'western' nations are.

  by: StarShadow     06/13/2008 08:36 AM
  @America

What the hell? Why are you so ashamed of your bodies? I understand you're (read: we're) all fat, but it's getting ridiculous. I can watch tv and see a guy get his head cut off, 2 guys pump bullets into each other, and someone get stabbed to death all in a half hour, but if someone see's Janet Jackson's nipple, all hell breaks loose?

I also understand that Fox manufactures controversy to keep it's pea-brained target audience in line, but what is the outrage about? Now we're actually charging, as an adult, someone who is the same age as the girls who took the pictures? It's absolutely inane. Either they're both adults, or they're both children.

That being said: Nudity is yucky and unnatural.

  by: erasedgod   06/13/2008 10:38 AM
  @Escalus

Barry was joking! He was hardly being serious about people following them home and raping them, I would have thought that was fairly obvious.

  No self respect

enough said.. This topic is seriously getting old its always the same sh*t these girls dont care about exposing their bodies the guys shouldnt care about sharing the pictures. These girls should know better harmones are raging.. If u dont have any self respect for yourself then how do u expect someone to respect you.. They simply like the attention.

grrr this gets me annoyed!

  by: livelaughlove   06/13/2008 04:21 PM
  The part that gets me is this:

A girl can use this as a weapon against a boy she doesnt like.

Ex: Girl 15 takes nude picture of herself and sends to Guy 18. Guy 18 looks at it on his cell phone and being a guy decides to keep it. Girl 15 notifies police and Guy 19 goes to jail...

Get what I mean? Its a way of making guys you dont like disappear for 1-5 years and destroying their entire lives without any consequences whatsoever.

  by: slavefortheman     06/13/2008 07:25 PM
  I meant...

Guy 18 not 19... Hell it could be a 17 year old guy though. Here in GA the legal age is 16 so anything under would be considered child porn. If the guy is 16+ and has a pic of a naked girl that is only 15 then he is liable to go to jail and then go on the sex offender database...

  by: slavefortheman     06/13/2008 07:27 PM
  @shawn1flog

Well said. Hypocrisy is a horrible thing. Unfortunately many of our laws seem to thrive off of hypocrisy.

I also don't understand why the 15 yo girl baiting in the older man is the victim. Please, these "little girls" look up to whorey role models like Brittney Spears, and Paris Hilton, of course they want to start having sex as soon as possible.

  by: smarta$$     06/13/2008 08:29 PM
  Exactly

The bad thing about our society is making underage girls look like whorey women.

If I were to go and ask a young girl between 14-17 to pose in a sexual type way I would be arrested even if there is no nudity involved.

I remember some old perv who was going to highschool games and the like and taking pictureso of the cheerleaders when they were in a certain pose and selling them to other pervs. He got caught and sentenced to 10 years.

Problem is those girls were in those positions publicly at a football game, jumping in their little skirts and doing those sexy cheer moves for everyone to see.

So should the school and parents be in the same amount of trouble for encouraging those girls to be in that position.

Funny thing is Hollywood does the same thing the perv did to make money. Make young girls often times look sexy or take sexy pictures to sell things. But it's all legal if your Hollywood and put it on film.

What a world we live in! Prostitution is illegal in LA and they go undercover to catch protistitutes, pimps and Johns but at the same time LA is the home of Adult entertainment industry. It's illegal to ask for sex on the street for money but if it's in front of a camera for a movie, it's perfectly legal.

Wow!

  When I was in high school,

there was a fad called "streaking". Person or people would strip and run through the school, mall, whatever. I did it at a mall. Didn't get caught 'cause was fast.
Someone streaked a restaurant I was working at.
Someone even wrote a very funny song about it.

you are correct that its happening everywhere. But i do believe you were incorrect in stating that being naked is so UNnatural. Its quite the opposite, being naked is natural.

their human for crying out loud. Look at the olden days, people never wore clothing in hot climates. I never see animals put clothing on. Were just another creature roaming this planet. We are way too smart or too dumb for our own good.

  America

Its alright for Americans to drop Daisy Cutters, Atomic Bombs and Cluster Bombs on people, not to mention waterboarding and generally just torture people . But by god, watch out if you're caught in the act of being a teenager.
Can someone tell me, why we all have sexual thoughts, and we are all driven to have sex, if we're not allowed to do these things which come naturally.
Please explain.

  Amazing new scientific discoveries

1) Girls don't wear bikinis to cover up, but to display as much of their naked bodies as they can.

2) Girls who have no reason to let others see them naked probably don't care if pix are taken, either.

3) Boys (and some girls) will be boys and pass around "dirty pix".

How is this different than junior taking his found old man's Playbody to school for his buds to ogle?

Pix of fellow students naked is nothing new, either. The only difference is the guy with the Polaroids had to give up his copy to give it to someone else. Now they can both have it.

This is the news non-event of the year.

Here's a coming news headline:

Faculty and administrators caught with images of nude students on their computers. Just evidence, of course.

  by: biggfredd   06/15/2008 01:09 PM
  @biggfredd

True, but the faculty are people just like their students. Nature doesn't care if a 37 year old loves a 17 year old, only the government does.

Sex laws are so very wrong...
