First Time for Walking and Wearing Shoes for Girl with Upside-Down Feet

A 15-year-old girl named Jingle Luis took her first unaided steps in sneakers on Wednesday July 2nd. Jingle has never been able to walk on her own because she was born with feet that were twisted and upside down.

Until now Jingle had to walk on the tops of her feet with the help of crutches. Her surgery consisted of screws being placed in her feet to help straighten them out. She has to wear braces on her feet for a year.

Jingle has a deformity called clubfoot which only happens in one in 1,000 births. Children with this deformity are usually treated in infancy with casts or braces that help bring the feet to their correct alignment. This condition is mild.

  This must feel so great for that girl
 I remember seeing another girl like this in Bizarre magazine a while ago, she had the surgery and was able to walk too. Kind of makes you wonder why her parents waited so long to get her some medical attention though, but I suppose if she was born in a less developed country she may not have had access to the help she needed.

  Wonderful news
 I can not understand how they come up with "This condition is mild." that mild condition could completely have ruined her spine by now.

  @captainJane
 i think that "condition is mild" actually refers to the spina bafida that Jingle *giggle* was born with. says in the source they didn't fix her feet at birth because they thought she wouldn't live.
