Palin Gives General Promotion After He Promotes Her On Fox

Just last Wednesday Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell told the Boston Globe Governor Sarah Palin's role as "Commander" of the Alaska National Guard was "largely ceremonial." He then later went on Fox to boast about her candidacy.

He stated he was displeased how the media suggested the "commander in chief of the National Guard doesn't control the military. Monday morning he was, to the dismay of other members of the guard, promoted to a three star General.

"The Guardsmen found out about this travesty when a call went out for volunteers to fill the room for his ceremony," said one guardsman. "The response was almost non-existent."

  Hmm

One guardsman said no such thing - an
unidentified poster on a forum claiming
to be a member of the national guard
did.

That's important to recognise since the
veracity of the subsequent statements
and allegations is entirely pinned to
this person's identity.

  Is That How It's Done?

Say something nice about a politician to get promoted? Huh, guess I buested my as for nothing then !!

I don't know about anyone else, but the best thing this General can do for his bloody "honor" as a military man is to decline the star - he knows DAMN well that this is NOT how soldiers should be promoted.

  They're scared...

Nobody will identify themselves because they know how vindictive she is.

The point is the timing of the promotion. I'm curious how many promotions she has given since she's been Governor?

  Experience

Palin has experience, but in her experience, transparent, upfront, in-your-face gets a politician votes. In time (my opinion) she will learn to do things less transparently. And that is reasonable. I agree with her political ethics, but don't consider government should be a tool to promote a religious stance.

  How funny

This is unrelated to the summary, but
there's an ad over it that says, "Who's
More Likely to Cheat -- McCain or
Obama?"

Since it also shows their wives, I'm
assuming they mean adultery. And of
course, we all know that McCain did
commit adultery. (Don't we?) So I'd say
the guy who has already done it would
be more likely to do it again. He's
always gazing creepily at Sarah Palin's
butt, too ...

there coming from the radical left wing bloggers that are making this crap up and of course the left wing media (basically all newspapers, msnbc, cnn, cbs and so on) just read this crap and run with it without any facts.

What exactly has been made up? I know there are some irresponsible bloggers out there but most of the stuff coming out about Palin has some legs. Not to mention all of the smear e-mails about Democrats and Obama. Oh! I forgot! She said "thanks but no thanks to the bridge to nowhere"

The only rumor-mongering that has gone on about Palin is that her Down syndrome baby is actually her daughter's; that was proven untrue when her daughter turned out to be pregnant herself.

The Palin choice is a disaster for McCain, and it shows how impulsively he made such an important choice. Personally, I don't want a president with poor impulse control, and I don't think most Americans do.

The choice was just a cynical ploy to bring social conservatives around. They'll remember soon enough that under McCain, she'll be speaking at memorials and casting tie-breaking votes in the Senate, not making policy. McCain wouldn't let someone with 20 months experience governing a state of less than 700,000 people work on national policy; he's not dumb -- but he thinks the American people are.

CrayOla -
it's obvious and appropriate that there is a zero in your tag. You sound very troubled, or perhaps just Republican
pc -
Same applies to you

You are what's wrong today, non-thinking, reactionaries that refuse to move forward and fairly discuss issues. We have been, can be, and will be better than your expressed views. You are only making your own lives and those of others more miserable by the fool-headed positions and candidates that you support.

BTW, on your level, where's the McCain inaction figure to balance the Republican play team?

You missed the one about her cutting
funding to special needs projects (she
tripled it), that she was a member of
AIP (she wasn't), that she supports
abstinence only education (she doesn't)
that she is against teaching of
contraception (she isn't), and the book
list (it's fake). I'm sure there are
some others I've missed.

  by: SoshiMaster   09/10/2008 02:16 PM
  book list??? and "explicet sex-ed"

the original pioint i read had no book list, it was a hypothetical question between palin and the liberian... this is fact... the book list itself my very well be completely fabricated but not the unethical question that palin asked... seems republicans have to discredit the truth by twisting it first, because you cant refute a whole truth.

and btw about sexual education what is HER DEFINITION of "explicit sexual education", which she IS against?

for that matter how do you make any sex-ed effective short of being explict

because here in canada; atleast back when i was in middle school and high school tought about sex education by you know showing diagrams of the genitals of both male AND FEMALE (the latter seems to be comming a BIG problem amongst far right wingers for some reason [uptight religious zealots]) describing their funtions and such. very little was ever taught about intercourse and even less if anything on foreplay (great reflection of the sexual ineptitude of the previous generation...lol).

sexual education has become largely a scare tactic, STDs (STIs), AIDS/HIV, pregnancy... this is where the majority of the focus is in sex-ed.

and i cant speak for the women but pretty much what the guys get for sex-ed is dick (both literally and figuritively). sam kinison once made a joke about thats but for the most part its true. maybe once or twice you MIGHT see a heavily dumbed-down black and white sketch style diagram of the female genitalia in men's sex-ed, but even in an encylepedia you'll get a detailed generic color diagram.

maybe, just maybe if students were taught sex-ed in a non-dumbed down environment we wouldn't have high rate of teenage pregnancy (such as govenor palin's daughter) nor would we have nearly as much of a problem with HIV/AIDS nor STD/STI's.

in this day you learn more sex-ed from your friends and siblings and at a far earlier age for most people then you ever will learn in middle/high-school or form your parents (this is one topic most parents wont touch with a ten foot pole until a problem actually arises).

i wouldn't be surprised if more conservate place esspecially within the US have giant stickers in their textbooks to block the vagina diagrams, and on the sticker it'll say something like "this if for your protection" or "this image has been deemed sexually explicit".

explicit sex-ed is student learn to have sex in the classroom...lol

  by: HAVOC666     09/10/2008 03:44 PM
  @Soshi

Perhaps I did miss a few, but Palin does support abstinence only education. Asked on a 2006 Governor questionaire whether she would fund abstinence-only education or would she support explicit sex-ed programs, she replied, "The explicit sex-ed programs would not get my support." She was given two options and she chose one by not choosing the other.

  by: l´anglais     09/10/2008 05:07 PM
  also, i wouldn't call...

i wouldn't call the sex-ed classes that i had explicit... but a far right conservative, like sarah palin seems to be probably would...

so that why i ask what her definition of explicit sex-ed is.

abstinance is a good idea (for the time when sex ed tends to be taught (grade 6-9 up to 12; but only up to 9 is mandatory here), in theory but its not sexual education what-so-ever... infact its the opposite it reinforces ingnorce OF sexual education.

abstinance only doesn't work... i can prove it... the contraseptives market is HUGE.

  @havoc/l'anglais

I've already debunked this is another
thread. Read the links I posted there
or just the excerpts from those links.

Palin does not support abstinence only
education. The question asked would she
fund abstinence till marriage education
programs over would she fund programs
that provided explicit sex education,
distribution of contraception in
schools, and school based clinics. To
this Palin replied that explicit sex
education programs would not have her
support. Stop twisting the facts to
misrepresent her position as something
it has never been.

  @Soshimaster

With all due respect, the issue is not quite as cut-and-dried as you're making it out to be.

"Palin's position on abstinence education is similarly curious. Various media reports said she agreed with McCain and the GOP platform that children should be taught that abstinence until marriage is the only safe way to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. After all, that's the answer she gave on a 2006 survey during her gubernatorial campaign.

But during a debate weeks later, she proclaimed herself "pro-contraception" and said during a debate in Juneau that condoms ought to be discussed in schools alongside abstinence. "I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues," she proclaimed.

Palin said she opposed "explicit" sex-ed programs but considered discussion of condoms to be "relatively benign." How can one discuss condoms without being explicit? Beats me. But I guess I'm just another one of those nosy elite media types."

  Additionally

Palin stated over two years ago that
she is pro-contraception - this is a
matter of public record. How does this
jibe with the suggestion that she
supports abstinence only education? How
does it jibe that her own campaign has
issued a statement saying otherwise,
that she supports education about
contraception and safe sex?

I have been trying to get this one
single little fact straightened out - a
fact which has been distorted and
twisted by the media and sites like
huffingtonpost.

The only evidence you have to support
your claim that Palin is in favor of
abstinence only education is a 2006
questionaire which never asked about
abstinence only programs, but rather
gave two rather biased options to which
Palin only rejected explicit sex
education programs.

The evidence against this claim
includes
+ The same questionaire
+ Palin's stance as pro-contraception
+ Palin's stance as ant-abortion
+ Statements issued by Palin's own
campaign as to her position
+ Alaska does not have a federally
mandated sex education curriculum,
despite Palin being Governor for two
years, it is up to the states to decide
what programs they will offer in the
schools. Palin has made no move to
change this.

I go the weirdest ad for this article.

The "Newspaper Obituary Archive"

anyone else get it?

by: Jaded Fox     09/11/2008 01:16 AM
  The sex-ed issue is simple...

She, like McCain and many other politicians, takes both sides of the issue so later on she can draw attention to the position her current audience supports. If she's talking to evangelicals, she's pro-abstinence-only. If she's talking to less ignorant types, she's pro-contraception. It is a tactic that has worked for these people for years. We won't catch on any time soon.

"because here in canada"

Why do all you non-Americans spend so
much time arguing your uninformed
opinions on my government? Why do you
want to control me? If you aren't

You are ignorant poison. You might know

even care how it affects the people
they are SUPPOSED to represent.

"Why do all you non-Americans spend so
much time arguing your uninformed
opinions on my government?"

probably because most of the world is better informed about the US than most people in the US are themselves.

lets hear a big round of applause for media and government keeping the masses ignorant.

"Why do you
want to control me?"

control you...? and you get this from where? what from me retelling my days of sex-ed... get off your high horse; i dont care enough about you to even think to control you... yeah i have what do gain from this... are you such a mindless person that i could control you...lol

"If you aren't
American, stay the hell out of this.
You are ignorant poison.``

well then by the same token if you are american STAY OUT OF THE REST OF THE WORLD.... america is the worlds poison. but hey until that happen better learn to take it too.

``You might know
or think you know how American
government affects you, but you don't
even care how it affects the people
they are SUPPOSED to represent."

ive watched the US affect country after country after country, i`ve heard first hand stories about how canada once had a great economy that wasnt dependant on the US... and how it got to where it is now 80% dependant on the US.

your right to an extent i dont care about american`s who act like you; in willful ignorance or people like cheney who are as malicious as you can possibly ... i do however care for the better half of america who genuinely don`t deserve the america they`ve been left with, like the people that get rounded up and put in place like peir 57 for political dissents or being unfavorable journalists.

I'm American and I don't have a problem with you posting anything you want. Just for starters this forum originates out of Germany. Not to mention the US constitutions first amendment is for free speech. I don't recall it saying anything about free speech only if you are from this country. Lastly, I come to this particular forum because I like most of the people here and the contribution they give with their postings. I like the fact that it is multinational. It helps me understand how my country affects the rest of the world, the good and the bad. So please speak freely.
