Prince Going Door-to-Door Crusading as Jehovah's Witness

Pop star Prince is showing up at people's houses as he tries to preach to them as a Jehovah's Witness, which he converted to in 2001. Some fans are so stunned when they find him at their doorstep that he finds it hard to get away.

"Sometimes fans freak out. It might be a shock to see me, but that's no reason for people to act crazy, and it doesn't give them licence to chase me down the street," he told USA Today, adding that it's opened up new opportunities to make deals.

"I love to bring the Bible to the table. I start by asking if they believe in God, then: 'What kind of business do you want to conduct: Transparent or hide the ball?' I'll do tours and albums if the deal is clean," he said.

He would find it hard to get away **fast enough** after coming to my door to preach. I simpley HATE preachin' !!!

just do what I do keep asking them inane questions like,

"Is the Kingdom of Heaven a constitutional monarchy or an absolute monarchy?"

"What do you feed the lions if they can't eat the lambs?" "Are there any good coffee shops up there?"

You could preach back to them. I was trying to convert two of them to Buddhism. They left pretty quickly after I started explaining the 4 noble truths and the eightfold path.

It amuses me and convinces them that I'm a nut case.

  @ jaded
I do that too, or at least try to make them understand how little they really know.

I also instantly thought of this when I read your comment

People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

  Old Prince Please
What a waste! I love Prince,I hope he comes to his senses and doesn't squander his career for a frigging cult.

[If a Jehovah's Witness ever did meet God he'd probably try to teach him the "truth" and convert Him.]

Used To Be Plagued By Them
Until I started answering the door in my shorts.
The word got around through them quickly and they stopped coming.

whether this would work with Prince ?
  by: ichi     09/27/2008 01:06 AM
  Gotta love'em them.
Scholars and Historians from around the world have publish their research on Jehovah's Witnesses. They have said their new translation is the most accurate ever created. I look at it this way. Do people still think they need to pray to a statue of Mary? or Jesus still? or Pray to a wooden cross when the bible dose says not to. I think Jehovah witnesses are on to something.

l0x is the luana1980 of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  Tom Cruise/Prince
Tom Cruise is a devout outspoken Scientologist.

Prince is a devout outspoken Jehovah's Witness.

There, and neither are the *true* religion either.

  Which goes to proove...
...that both are nothing but cults.
  by: TurboPascal   09/27/2008 08:32 AM
Maybe Prince should give up Rock-n-Roll and try preaching.
  by: wvcoalminer   09/27/2008 08:47 AM
You're right, I think the Jehovah's Witness's are on something too.
  by: valkyrie123     09/27/2008 08:58 AM
  Feel sorry for Prince
Prince will live to regret it,look at what the Watchtower did to Michael Jackson.

God damn these cults!
  by: fionafive   09/27/2008 09:59 AM
I am a Roman Catholic, and I don't pray to a cross or a statue, thank you very much. You soul-solicitors need to get your facts straight before I do something I'd need to be forgiven for.

See the original An Evening With Kevin Smith DVDs. Last I checked you could get them on youtube by just searching for Kevin Smith Prince.

Ya, I'm not a big fan of them...
It only took a day after I moved into my new place this year for them to show up. I came home from work, saw an old van across the street with people in nice suits, as soon as I walked into the house they came up to the door. I opened it a crack and said not interested and closed it. Didn't even give them time to say anything. They've never come back since.

I saw this article, I asked my wife what would she do, if she answered the door bell and there he was, Prince himself!! (She is a fan)
Before she could answer.

My 15 years old daughter, laughed so hard and said " Wow!! A midget on Stilettos with a bible in his hand" All I heard was, whack with a table towel.. I laughed so hard.

A Midget!!

Does a jehovahs witness witness?
  by: Jediman3     09/27/2008 10:39 PM
I know a bit about this...
Jehovah's Witnesses commonly go door to door to preach their gospel. It is referred to as "witnessing", hence the name of their organization. Prince is an incredible musician, regardless of his religious preference.

The Jehova's Witness formerly known as Prince?

The fingers are dipped in "blessed" water and then it is custom to the "father, son, and holly ghost" crossing on their chest with the wet hand and kneel to the cross or statue of Jesus?
For example kneeling in front of a statue Mary to pray as many Catholics do is not frowned upon and is rather ok to do. And how many dead Men called saints or popes are worshiped like human gods/Brittany Spears.
Kneeling in front of a cross/statue Jesus/or Mary is against the 2nd commandment that Jehovah had wrote out for us. (I'm not afraid to use his name, but the Vatican is ) must never bow to an image or worship it in any way;….
Exodus 20
But since you are catholic then you must believe in the Trinity and must believe that God/Jesus/holy ghost is one entity.
History lesson Time!!! Rome Emperor Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus aka Ceasar Constantine The First, was one of the first ruler of Rome during the big change from pagan beliefs to Christianity. Squabs started cause of confusion on how Jesus related to God. Was he God or just one of God’s creations? Well it was decided by the council to form the Trinity (Trinity is never mentioned EVER in the bible, even then) to simplify and unify Christianity. Under the Trinity; God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are one entity. In the book of Mathew, Jesus separates himself by saying that he is only the son of god. NOT god himself or any part of him. The Holy Ghost/Spirit is not a separate entity but God’s power only. Constantine and the council were smart. A lot of Rome where still practicing Pagan beliefs. A image was used with 3 faces to show the pagans, “hey look our god is like yours, let’s end the fighting”. But the uneducated Romans needed more simplification so Constantine and Council created the Nicene Creed. A form of prayer that is “ALL” that is needed to know for the commoner. How many hours, days, or years, did you sit in Catechism class learning the Nicene Creed?? The Nicene Creed still, in some versions, separates god from Jesus. Since its still in dispute on why the Trinity idea was ever created. This is all true, look it up, and do your research. The Trinity idea is manmade. Again it was never in the bible. All lies to squash unwanted Roman conflict.
I’anglais, you made a comment regarding the Vatican’s decision to not allow gods name to be used in song or worship. You said that it was a stupid rule. I agree in so many ways. Why do you think it’s a stupid rule? Though still, I understand you as a Catholic, will go with anything they say or teach and still call yourself a Catholic.
I see why so many have fallen from the major religions today. The book itself has been changed to suit political gain, monetary gain, and self power. They don’t actually teach what’s in the bible anymore. Sermons have turned into 11 o clock news briefings and political propaganda.
@ Any One.
What version Bibles are the Catholic church’s teaching from? King James?
  by: l0x   09/29/2008 11:21 AM
"In the book of Mathew, Jesus separates himself by saying that he is only the son of god."

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.

John 1:1-5
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it.

Jesus never came out and said I am God (because of His humbleness).

There are countless other examples in the Bible of Jesus being God.
  by: C.O.G.   09/29/2008 09:39 PM
You're correct the word "Trinity" is not in the Bible, but it's man's way of understanding God... check out Genesis the first chapter.

Genesis 1:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

That shows two members of the Trinity. The Father and the Holy Spirit. Also take a look down further in the chapter.

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Shows once again how God is more than one person in one.

Matthew 3:16-17
16As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

This shows the Trinity.

Matthew 9:2
2Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."

Only God can forgive sins. Jesus was able to forgive sins because he is in fact the Embodiment of God... God on Earth.

  y'know what's really cool?
Those tissue paper pages they print the bible on are great for rolling joints or wiping your butt! If you ever run out of TP in your hotel room, just grab a Gideon!
I like the fact that one of the main beliefs of the Jehovas Witnesses is that when the "rapture" happens, 40,000 will be the only ones let into heaven. Given the number of JWs in the world today, ask any that prosthelize to you what they think their chances are... mathematically speaking, they're probably screwed... then again math is a science and if there's one thing religion hates, it's facts...

  Captain Chainsaw
You make my brain numb. I think I just got dumber reading your post. Thanks.
  by: C.O.G.   09/30/2008 09:04 AM
  @ C.O.G.
You got dumber reading the truth? You're worse off than I thought.

Bible paper makes great rolling paper.

As for JW, they claim a membership of 7.6 million, only 40,000 are going to heaven, the rest are screwed by their own religion.

What's so bloody difficult to comprehend??
  by: Tumbleweed   09/30/2008 09:50 PM
"...You got dumber reading the truth?..."

Would be better stated as:

"...You got dumber reading reality?..."

  @captainchainsaw and tumbleweed
Slight error. According to revelations there will be 144,000 standing before 24 elders. I'm assuming that it means 144,024 people are there. Special note. These are all virgin males. "These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure."

Though maybe a gay guy could get through as he possibly wouldn't have had sex with a woman.

The rest of revelations reads like an acid trip. It starts talking about angles with scythes slaughtering people while god pours his rage into golden bowls. The wrath causes boils and sores on people, kills all marine life, turns rivers too blood, and so on.
by: Jaded Fox     10/01/2008 12:09 PM
You're on the right track. I know it's hard to comprehend. Check this out, this might help clarify it a little bit.
I hope it helps.
  by: C.O.G.   10/01/2008 12:44 PM
I thought you believed the bible literally. This is talking about it as a figurative figure.
by: Jaded Fox     10/01/2008 01:48 PM
I do, when it's called to be taken literally. Parts of the Bible are to be taken literally (i.e. 10 Commandments), some parts figuratively (i.e. Parables of Jesus). A Bible commentary helps out with this. But you are right though.
  by: C.O.G.   10/01/2008 01:59 PM
So why is this part figurative
and things like the creation not? As much as it sounds like a really really bad drug trip, it details the end of the world in fairly good detail. !44,000 virgin males with 24 elders singing around god, lakes turning to blood, fish dying, and angels slaughtering sinners with scythes. That's a lot more detail than god creating light before he he created the sun.
by: Jaded Fox     10/01/2008 02:06 PM

That's a pretty good explanation. Genesis was created to be a history lesson of the things that God revealed to Moses at that time. Moses was not as advanced as we are now, nor was he able to read and write until the 10 Commandments (according to most). The basic difference is that Genesis is history and Revelations was a vision. I may see something differently than you see it... it's an actual account of his vision, but if we were to get the same vision, we might note different things.
  by: C.O.G.   10/01/2008 03:13 PM
@ Tumbleweed
144,000 go to heaven to rule over the earth along side Jesus, the rest will live in paradise on earth along side everyone that gets resurrected. Easy.

@ Jaded, 144,000 from earth - any other numbers in heaven were already there (i.e, angels, etc, that kinda thing)

"Is the Kingdom of Heaven a constitutional monarchy or an absolute monarchy?"
That's a good one - 'cos I have no idea what your on about? Define what you mean.

"What do you feed the lions if they can't eat the lambs?"
Something nutritional - don't worry, they wont starve.

"Are there any good coffee shops up there?"
No idea, never been - I'll ask when the opportunity arises. Might be soon... or a while. ;)
  by: amplitude   10/01/2008 04:13 PM
You don't know the difference between a constitutional and an absolute monarchy?

constitutional monarchy -
The power of the monarch is shared with his or her subject. Usually by way of a constitution or a parliament. Most well known example would be England or Japan though I'm fairly sure Spain and Norway still have their monarchs.

absolute monarchy-
the power of the king or queen is absolute. He or she controls every aspect of government. This style of government has mostly faded out in the modern era. It's best to think of the old European monarchs who ruled by decree.

"Prince is an incredible musician, regardless of his religious preference."
Hallelujah and amen to that. He is very very talented and despite his appearance, scandals are very minimum with Prince.

As an Artist this guy is way up there.
  by: isuzu     10/02/2008 12:51 AM
  @ isuzu
Ya know, I'de never thought about that. For as long as he has been in the industry, has there been ANY scandal against him?

And ditto, about how musically talented he is. I actually went to see his Purple Rain movie (hypocrasy, being a die-hard rock fan, lol) when it came out - a good actor too!
  by: Tumbleweed   10/02/2008 02:05 AM
but it's a prophecy that god or jesus sent or wanted him to see. I really don't think that god would show him a bunch of scary images for the laughs. He was pretty specific with the numbers. I don't think someone guesses it was 144,000 he was told or it was out into his head.

God or whoever wanted him to notice certain things. 144,000 virgin men. (another thing I'm sure he wouldn't know by looking) 9 mountains. Unloess he was just tripping out of his skull, god sent him some pretty clear information. OR is god planning to revise the end of the world?
by: Jaded Fox     10/02/2008 02:49 PM
  @ Jaded
Nope, never really gave such differences a thought. A brain workout is always good.

But by your definition, constitutional monarchy it would be - hence the use of the 144,000 (split between the 12 tribes) ruling along-side.
  by: amplitude   10/02/2008 06:22 PM
That's what I wanted to know
does god share power with this group of 24 elders and 144,000 whatever they are? Or does he rule by decree with these guys just following orders.

None of them have ever answered me.
