Starbucks Water Waste

World-famous coffee chain Starbucks has been slammed for wasting 23.4 million litres of water a day at 10,000 cafes around the world. This could supply two million people with water in countries suffering drought.

Starbucks rules state that the tap in the “dipper well” may NEVER be turned off to prevent any contamination due to health and safety rules. Water companies have condemned this, saying it is dribbling away vital “natural resources.”

Jacob Tompkins, of Water Wise, an independent water efficiency agency, said: “The chance of a build-up in the spout is extremely remote. And if there is one, they’re not cleaning the tap properly.” The water could fill an Olympic pool every 83 minutes.

They just suck. Full stop. Their coffee drinks are a waste of water, too.

Thanks again for squandering away our precious Fresh Water resources ... your bill will be in the mail when our fresh water has run out for the Desalinization Plants that will be needed after our Aquifers are dry.

Actually it is wise of your local government to continually tell people to conserve water even when not faced with a drought. Staying aware is better than staying ignorant to the bigger global issues.

As far as Starbucks... this just gives me one more reason to stay as far away from greedy corporate chains. Mom and Pop coffee houses are better and they support the local economy. I also hope that Starbucks is fined a heavy amount, although I doubt that will happen as the water companies have been billing them and not complaining one bit.

I very much expect that this huge company will get perk deals for their water, it is the every day family that will be charged the premium rates; this is how it works here!

  Starbucks Waste...

would have been a much better title, I have never in my whole life drank such rot, I thought this stuff would be wonderful and drank it for the first time in New York, I was disappointed as I really thought this was The American coffee; lucky that yummy American cheesecake took the awful taste out of my mouth, but I never did try another American coffee after that.:(

... first off, don't try American "coffee" ... now go to a Tim Horton's and try Canadian Coffee. :)
