Sarah Palin: I Goofed to Keep Saturday Night Live in Business

In a campaign speech in Florida, Sarah Palin said that her recent gaffes such as being unable to recall which publications she reads or any of the non-Roe vs Wade Supreme Court verdicts she disagrees with, were a ploy to keep Saturday Night Live going.

Palin said that her inability to answer the questions were due to frustration at their triviality. Referring to the CBS Katie Couric interview she asserts that she was impatient with not being asked about the important issues.

She said "I should have told them was I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business, just giving her more information. Job security for SNL characters."

I have a sense of humor and all...
But how can you really shrug off your previous gaffes with an obvious joke?

Doesn't it sort of prove you really didn't have a clue?

The sad part is that she sounds just like so many of the people in this state...ridiculous.

  @ Sarah Palin
So she sounded like an idiot because she was frustrated at the trivial nature of the questions being asked, eh? Like her incoherent rant after Couric asked the trivial question about why the American people should bail out these huge companies. That was the least trivial question that could be asked of a politician at that moment in time - and her response was one of the most hilarious things I've ever read that wasn't purposeful satire.

If any of you reading this site still support Palin (I'm not sure how you've suffered the intellectual abuse if so) then just check out the type of crowds she's attracting. I just read this off of Google News...

"Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

This coupled with the person yelling "Kill him" at a rally the other day. Take a look at who's side you're on. Even just watching the conventions... the DNC had a real brotherly love sort of feel to it, people from all different backgrounds, everyone dancing - looked like something out of the 60's. The RNC just seemed hate filled and uber aggressive.

I saw that clip on a vid site a couple of days ago. Sounds like someone who might live up the road from me. I wonder to myself what kind of people would consider voting for McCain/Palin... that pretty much sums it up.

  Tina Fey.
Last time I checked she was doing quite well for herself. Writer for SNL, star of 30 Rock, major book deal, movies.

Quite why Sarah Palin cares enough about Tina Feys job security to make an arse of herself is a mystery. Maybe Bush wasn’t a fool. He just had a soft spot for Michael Moore.
  by: mrploppy   10/07/2008 06:27 PM
That is pretty damn immature and petty of her.
  by: cbuilding   10/07/2008 08:45 PM
  Think about it...
without Sarah Palin's help the millions and millions of people who watch SNL every Saturday would be so appalled at SNL's ordinary skits that they would stop watching and it would be the end of SNL! OMG!!!

  I'm a journalist
and I have friends in the business, reporters for towns of under 5,000 people, who are facing the hate inspired by Palin and McCain. These reporters have never done anything more than cover the local Town Council meetings and the high school football games, and suddenly they're supposed to be elite leftists who hate America. It's insane.

  Sarah Palin
is an embarrassment to the Republican Party...and that's coming from a Republican.

"do you really want this woman in office?"

I'm a republican.

and to answer your question...

  Hehe :P
She's a nice milf though :P
  by: Desphex   10/07/2008 10:30 PM
The Republican Party has become an embarrassment to the whole world. Twenty years ago I would not have said that. The last 8 years have been the worse. McCain and Palin are just more of the same.
  by: JonSmith     10/07/2008 11:02 PM
  Hell Ya !
Hell yeah I want her elected, along with McCain !!!

  Roe v Wade - Not Rowe/Wade
I know I'm just a dumb American hick, but if you're going to sling shit at people, YOU ought to know what you're talking about.

It's Roe v. (versus, as in court) Wade. Look it up ... if you can read.

So she is supporting the election of an old man to the White House. She could be one heart beat away from running the country.

But she thinks it is 'trivial' to ask:

- What publications does she read? Newspapers, magazines, even online. Anything? Where does she get her information that shapes her world view? Is this trivial?

- What are her views about the rulings of the Supreme Court? Trivial?

What exactly was she expecting from Katie Couric? Hard hitting journalism?

If she is so eager to answer real questions from real journalists, why doesn't she meet with real journalists and answer real questions? Is is that she is too afraid to? Or is it that the McCain handlers are afraid she will goof? Or do they simply think that women should be seen and not heard (except when they need to get their votes)?

G W Bush in female form? I don't think so. This woman makes Bush look like a wise old man.

It's funny that I'm Canadian, yet I'm more worried about American politics rather than my own.
  by: Anthrox   10/08/2008 04:19 PM
That kind of blind obedience to stupid Republicans is why America is in the toilet. How any intelligent human could have even considered voting for the insane McCain/Palin ticket baffles me.
