Boy Finds McCain-Palin Campaign Sign Shocking

A 9-year-old boy from North Carolina received the shock of his life when he decided to tamper with a McCain-Palin campaign sign in the yard of a local resident.

Shawn Turschak of Chapel Hill grew tired of the campaign signs in his yard being stolen, so he rigged one up to the power source of an electrical fence commonly used to deter pets from leaving the property. He also rigged up a surveillance camera.

Following the boy receiving a jolt from the sign, his father showed up at Mr. Turschak's door. The local authorities arrived shortly afterwards. The boy's father claimed that the child only wanted to see how it was assembled. No charges are expected.

"the child only wanted to see how it was assembled"?

  Why?

Just why do it? Does the 9 y.o even understand what the signs mean? I bet the kids family put him upto it knowing full well that he wont get prosecuted.

The sign was on private property.

The kid had no right being there.

  WATCH THE VIDEO

The little punk kid was walking up with an Obama/Biden sign and was clearly trying to tamper with the guy's McCain sign and swap it out.

The video makes it glaringly obvious as the kid doesn't even hesitate, he just walks right up and grabs the sign.
The shock was nothing at all, just a little zap, and the owner of the property 4th amendment, put up a warning sign that it was electrical.

I'm fairly sure the kid doesn't give a crap about the election, it's totally his parents' fault he has no respect for his neighbors.

  Serves him right

People shouldn't be taking down signs just because they don't happen to agree with them.

He is a kid. Things like that are fun when you are young (not the shock).
When I was younger the mayor of our area lived around the corner, we would try to change the sign in her garden as often as possible, because it was funny to our child sized brains.
No harm is done.

  And if

he tried to vandalize an obama sign, the media would surely present the boy as being in the wrong!!!!!

  @Manic_Panic

Please quote the law you are referring to.

You are allowed to protect your property, by any means necessary.

Regardless of who the sign is for, if someone were to try to take it off my property, I would have done the same thing.

Good on the property owner.

  I Can't

seem to agree with this sign tempering, just as much as I can't seem to agree with vandalizing private property.

Lately, I have seen many news report on tasers, that said, fro the owner to rig his sign with electric is simply the dumbest thing to do, even in his own lawn.

He simply disregarded the cause and effect, and not putting up a sign next to it, to warn is also not appropriate.

Human body is a sort of conduit, sometimes even a small
disruption of its electricity can very easily render a person dead.

Over a sign!? I dont care how many have been vandalized, a million of them are not a worth a life of one child/human being.

"I dont care how many have been vandalized, a million of them are not a worth a life of one child/human being."

To normal people, you're right. We're not talking about normal people here. We're talking about a McCain supporter.
