Woman's Life Possibly Saved Because She Drove 45 Feet Off an Overpass

There may a silver lining in an automobile accident involving Sacramento woman Shannon Goods and her daughter Eryn, 11. After surviving rolling over and plunging 45 feet off a freeway overpass, doctors treating her injuries found a tumor.

"I remember swerving to get away from the car that was on the lane beside me," said Goods, whose car flipped the guardrail after rolling several times. She sustained torn up hands, a head scar, and a shattered knee - which is where the tumor was.

If it turns out to be malignant, the accident could be a life-saving event. She did happen to lose her wedding ring in the crash, but agrees that she should consider herself fortunate if that's all she lost.

  Was the daughter hurt?

There's no mention of what happened to her! I assume she was ok, but it's not actually mentioned in the summary.

  @TabbyCool

That's what I was wondering. I'd think that they would've mentioned it.

  Regarding the daughter...

From source: "Eryn Goods has a scar on her head from the airbag and torn up hands, but escaped serious injury."

Looks like the daughter is the one with the scar and torn up hands, and Shannon Goods (the mother) made it with just the shattered knee...

Definitely luck, a miracle, whatever you want to call it, that they both came through it pretty much fine!

  Something similar happened to my step-father

He was out playing football in the back yard with myself and a few other people. He got tackled and broke his leg...

Fortunately it was discovered he had a mass of bone marrow cancer on that same leg. Marrow cancer is very deadly so this simple accident may have saved his life. Now he is in remission.
