Members of the Swedish parliament are pushing to outlaw beastiality following a recent expose by a Stockholm newspaper featuring an animal sex network in Sweden. Beastiality and homosexuality were both decriminalized in Sweden in 1944.
The government in Sweden, one of the most sexually permissive countries, is resisting attempts to have sex with animals banned. The Agriculture Minister asked, "Should a human be allowed to affectionately stroke the teats of a female dog?"
According to the Swedish Animal Welfare Agency, there were 115 cases of bestiality reported between 2000 and 2005. Some projections indicate that as many as 200-300 dogs and cats are sexually assaulted annually.
