This week Iranian police came down on 'satanic' clothing and hair cuts. Satanic clothing and haircuts is described as having western influence. 5 barber shops were closed and 20 were warned about promoting western style haircuts and 49 were arrested.
The 49 were called rascals and thugs by the city police commander of Qaemshahr for wearing these 'satanic fashions and unsuitable clothing.' Men with spiky hair and women in tight pants and high boots were targeted.
Iran's leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, suggested that the western influence on the Iranian youth is part of a soft revolution meant to corrupt cultural ideals. These type of crackdowns normal last a week or a month, but the current one began in 2007.
