160 NATO Trucks Destroyed in Pakistan

Over 160 supply trucks en route to US troops in Afghanistan were torched by militants. The trucks were supplied by NATO and were the target of the largest assault on a military supply line.

US military officials claim the losses to have "minimal" impact on their attempts to thwart Taliban-led militants in Afghanistan. NATO is currently seeking a new route for their supply line.

The attackers fled, and witnesses estimate between 30 to 300 of them in number. 70 Humvees were destroyed among all the vehicles.

  There you go GM.

Rather than beg for handouts now you can sell some more Hummers to NATO.

  Why destroy?

Surely stealing them would be much more beneficial?

Unless they had tracking gear, in which case it would have led NATO straight to these people.

Sooner we're out of there the better, the West clearly isn't wanted.

  Useless

NATO and the US should get out of Afghanistan altogether.. it's a losing battle. If the people themselves don't care about the Talibans then why should we? Our troops are getting killed for no reason with billions of dollars being wasted. Time to withdraw and concentrate on our own problems.

  I can just imagine...

Bin Laden standing in the mouth of his cave, giving a speech to his troops, with a big banner behind him, “Mission Accomplished”.

Can someone please Photoshop that for me and post it on line?

"Useless
NATO and the US should get out of Afghanistan altogether.. it's a losing battle."

every battle in afghanistan since alexander the great has been a losing a losing battle.

you can't beat a people that are both proud and as resistant to foreign invasion/occupation as afghanistan is... EVEN IF they were beaten as a country you would be left with another populas like the palestinians.

"If the people themselves don't care about the Talibans then why should we?"

they do care about them... many are against them for their more islamic extremist stances, others hold them as heroes (and they are as much as any soldier can be, but i dont think ANY soldier or the like should be held as a hero) as they have been the defenders of their way of life since they came to be as well as the people originally called al-queda.

although alot of what we hear about the taliban is a distortion of the truth or an out-right lie. like for example drugs funding terrorism... when the taliban was in control opium production was at a low, when the US invaded and occupied production started going through the roof... why??? because US companies need it to manufacture opiate painkillers, morphine (or heroin)... drugs fund terrorism indeed (and the FDA is the drug dealer), but rarely against the US, and usually by them; or their allies (israel).

"Our troops are getting killed for no reason with billions of dollars being wasted."

indeed along with officially 100 canadian troops and 1 billion dollars too.

there's reason... just no good reason... the reasons are as follows:
1. oil pipeline
2. natural gas piplines
3. opium production; which as a result of the taliban wasn't enough to keep opiate, morphine/heroin production up.

thats 3 natural resources, all three would be economical reasons for the US to be in and occupying afghanistan.

"Time to withdraw and concentrate on our own problems."

its way passed that time... but better late than never i guess.
