Farmers Attacked by SWAT for Operating a CO-OP

Ohio Dept. of Agriculture agents, along with police SWAT, attacked a farm-run food CO-OP with automatic weapons drawn and held the family and 10 children at gun point for 8 hours while they ransacked the home.

Over $10,000 worth of grass-fed organic “beef” was confiscated, along with all records, cell phones, the family’s food, computers, and other personal items, using a search warrant that didn’t seem to be valid.

The co-op, Manna Storehouse, provides beef, lamb, pastured poultry, and other organic foods to co-op members only. Ten children were being home-schooled when the raid occurred.

  What law(s) did they break?

Lemme guess, they didn't buy their seeds from Monsanto?

Operating an unregistered retail food operation. Well that is the charge. I assume that Manna Storehouse will argue that they are operating on an exception to the rules or something.

@valk
You'll be happy to read this excerpt of the police record:

"As I began to exit the back porch I slipped on the wet and icy steps falling. I was advised by Detective Jackson that my right leg extended out in front of me, and my bent left leg went under me. Upon standing I found that i was in extreme pain and needed to use the corner of the residence to support my self as I could not use my left leg."

SWAT sounds a little excessive for getting some beef.

  Costs of Food

Mass producers of food can not allow the population to come to the conclusion as to how cheap food really is. That you work and slave away for 30 days per month, yet working couple days per month, should have been enough to secure enough food for One person for the entire month.

Of course, there are places in the world were food is becoming too expensive. But in those places, you have to work for a whole month just to make what an American will do in 1-3 days.

Canada and its police will go nuts if someone was to just buy a cow and drink milk from that cow. They will actually attack the farm with machine guns just to save this family from the dangers of 'drinking raw milk'.

  Sounds like

someone is board. I'll have to start a meth lab over there if they only worry about food safety. Haha doubt it though. They are just pissed they were not getting the taxes they wanted to get.

  Bad News...

This is happening all over the country. Co-Op's are getting busted everywhere. If you and I start a garden together and share the crops, that's a co-op and the government will come and shut you down.

They don't want us to become self-reliant. Self-reliant citizens are citizens who can take care of themselves and don't need a government...and that scares our top brass.

  We don't want true competition

Some other business that competed with them probably set the whole thing up.
Good free enterprise.

Beg to differ on just one part of your argument: "don't need a government."

That would make sense if the government was feeding these people, and they were bucking the government's power by feeding themselves. No, the power these people are deflecting is that of food companies that want to sell them their massively overpriced products.

And chances are, if there are laws against growing your own food, the food companies lobbied for them and support candidates who support those laws.

Umm, no. The laws vary from province to province, but if I recall correctly, raw milk is fine if you own and 'maintain' the cow yourself, it's generally just banned from sale.

Uh... okay can anyone now-a-days point the differences out between big businesses and the government? Whether it's the big food companies or the government; we might as well same the same people working for one interest...self preservation of life and finances.

So by connection, we are both right and now I'm going to take a couple shots....lol.

has been around forever, at least until government decided to print money..

It's just too hard to collect taxes when people trade goods and services, especially without a paper trail...

However, in my state there is both a sale and a use tax so no matter how you got an item, it's still taxable if you use it.

Your friendly government protecting you again.

  Shakes fist at the farmers!

They really seem to have a beef with this co-op. Don't these people know how much safer they are with Police Raiding your house with automatic weapons than eating beef?

  more facism

when this shit happens they should be met with bullets and beatdowns... even when it the cops.

the people need a revolution.

"land of the free, home of the brave", what country's slogan is this?... because it certianly ain't america, not with the likes of this happening, and this is just one of thousands of incidents that we hear about.
