Karl Rove Subpoenaed

Karl Rove has been subpoenaed to appear before the House Judiciary Committee next Monday to testify about the firing of United States attorneys and the prosecution of a former democratic governor by the Bush administration.

Mister Rove has been subpoenaed in the past to appear but has refused claiming executive privilege under George Bush.

Representative John Conyers, who chairs the house committee, believes that the legal arguments that Karl Rove has used to ignore previous subpoenas no longer apply under President Obama's administration.

"... believes that the legal arguments that Karl Rove has used to ignore previous subpoenas no longer apply under President Obama's administration."

they never did apply to him in the first place, but thats how corrupt the US government is, they truely are above the law, after all who cares about legal principals like magna carta.

and what about the valerie plame scandal? correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't that treason.... but who cares about things like treason anymore... terrorism is the in thing now.

Government of the people... I think not

Tell me the US Federal government is one that represents the people and I will have caught you in a lie.

  Yup

states should fight to get their rights back. All state governments should unite and beat the federal government into a manageable size again.

Unfortunately even state governments are corrupt these days. so, game over America?

I'm not sure corruption is the correct term

I'm not saying he's not a corrupt son of a bitch. Just that in this context I'd say his sense of entitlement is the real issue.

Can any man afford this kind of arrogance? I say we take him out back and beat the shit out of him.

  Working as Designed

This has nothing to do with arrogance and everything to do with how our government is setup...and correctly in my view.

Three equal but separate branches of government. The President and his staff don't owe sh*t to Congress.

If Bush did one thing right, he brought the Presidency back to where is belonged. I'll be interested to see (or hear the deafening silence) what happens the first time Obama refuses a Congressional request.

Haha I would not give the job of changing the federal government to our own state governments. That would be the funniest thing ever.

You're kidding, right? The two modern presidents to seize that much power for the office were Bush and Nixon, two of the most hated presidents of all time.

Working as designed? Doesn't owe congress shit? Quite the contrary. The purpose of the three branches is not to overpower one another. Lookup Checks and Balances.

  Bah

Rove will wipe his butt the the subpoena just like he did with the Constitution. He and his low-life ilk are above the law (in their minds).

The firing of the United States attorneys is a perfect example of the Congress overstepping its authority. The check is the President telling them to pound sand. The attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President and can fire them for any reason. In this case, it would seem that they did not follow his directions and they were fired for it. Don't listen to your boss...get fired. Not a foreign concept. Believe me, if there was anything "criminal", your Democrat buddies would have impeached him in a heartbeat.

In another case, Congress tried to get a list of visitors to the White House in order to try to determine who "helped" them create energy policy. Again, what business is that of the Congress? Again, the President told them to take a hike. Good for him.

  Book him!

Take him downtown- he's a misbegotten thrice-cursed son of a bitch and should be raked over red coals for the treason he knowingly committed.

But your missing the point, they work for the president, and they are appointed under the discretion of the president but they work hand in hand with another branch of the government, the judicial branch. Read the recent news about the scandal in the DoJ about how they were only accepting certain attorneys who were aligned with the department chief's political views. This was jsut another political power play to strengthen their numbers and gain more power from coast to coast. This is corruption at the the higest point. Strengthen two branches and you can overpower the 3rd.

unfortunately i think the plame affair is done and over with. they are never going to let that thing see the light of day. the gao after all... said so.

and they are ALL about accountability. i wish someone would just go rogue and start takin these bastards out one by one. im not advocating it but i wouldn't be mad about it either...

Many don't know this, but the Congress can set aside Supreme Court rulings.

The DoJ only prosecutes and sets policy. The end judgment still comes from the courts.

I understand your point though. Jury is still out for me on that; however, I'm inclined to believe that the Democrats did this too when they were in power.
