A German motorist in Chemnitz, Saxony, has missed a bend in the road, hurtled up an embankment and landed 7 metres above the ground on a church roof. The bank acted like a springboard, and propelled the car forward into the church.
A spokesperson for the local police said: "We've never ever had a case of a car landing in a church before." The driver of the car, a 23-year-old man, suffered serious injuries in the crash, and the car had €10,000 worth of damage to it.
Police did indicate that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
