Space Module to be Named After Stephen Colbert?

Comedian Stephen Colbert has entered a contest run by NASA to name a new node set for the International Space Station. Colbert on Tuesday urged his fans to put his name in the running, after despairing over the names chosen by NASA.

Of the names Earthrise, Legacy, Serenity and Venture, Colbert said: "Those aren't space modules, those are organic teas. But you know what name would look fantastic on the side of that module? Colbert!" By Wednesday, he was second on the list.

This is the second time NASA has asked for public participation in naming space equipment. The module in question will contain racks and the station's life support system, as well as a six-window observation deck. Voting is on at NASA's web site.

  I'm surprised

that they didn't put it up for bid for corporate advertising with the economy the way it is. I can see it now "This module sponsered by: Taco Bell - check out our .99 value menu!"

But this is no compensation for his failure in the presidential election.

  Xenu.... Seriously?

I really should not be suprised that one of the top names is the galactic overlord of scientology.... Has anyone else read there fictional "bible"? Come on now.... Really? That's a little retarded...

"Has anyone else read there fictional "bible"? Come on now.... Really? That's a little retarded..."

and yet 2.1 billion chirstians/catholics and 1.5 billion muslims follow equally retarded bibles. side by side there's little difference between any of the major religions, and the only difference for scientology is its a new religion.... its all the same BS. chiristians and muslims and what not might think scientology is silly, but in reality its no more silly than the popular religions.

as for "their fictional "bible""... what bible ISN'T fiction?...lol

  @Blades

Yeah, they should name it the St. God or something because science and religion go together like pool shock and brake fluid.

@Havoc: "what bible ISN'T fiction?...lol"

The Wine Bible. I'm not posting a link, but you can get it at Amazon.
