Child Porn Charges for Teen's Own Posted Nude Pictures
A 14 year old girl in New Jersey has been accused with posting near 30 nude pictures of herself on the social networking site http://www.MySpace.com. The Passaic County Sheriff's Office said that they want to send a wake up call to parents.
Legal experts could not recall a case like this that resulted in actual criminal charges. The teen, charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, would have to register as a sex offender and spend up to 17 years in jail if convicted.
Natural sexual curiosity, excitement, attention, social curiosity, fun, rebellion, puberty, pride?
I hate it when people assume kids don't have sound character because they experiment with their sexuality differently than they themselves did when they were younger. Our bodies are nothing to be ashamed of and are constantly being showcased on television, the internet, and in life on a regular basis. Nothing she did is wrong or unusual for children that age it's just not that often pictures like this are published.
How can anyone criticize her actions when adults are consistently guilty of the same thing? Hiding behind the facade that simply being 18 or older gives better judgement, making it "okay". When IMO if it's wrong for women under 18, its wrong for women over 18 as well to decide to showcase their bodies nude.
If anything this girl needs to be wary of internet creeps, as those photos published publicly may invite danger into her life. That little lapse in judgement due to her lack of experience with the world is her real problem.
Sry i didnt meant to portray the girl as having some problems,i just listed 2-3 possibilities that gone through my head i was in school while writing that.
If she feels comfortable with it more power to her. I'm just curious has to what were her reason for doing it.
I thought I should include a disclaimer-- I don't think these photos should be public by any means. However taking photos of herself and simply being in possession of them is not a crime.
The action I think appropriate is to educate her to the dangers that she is bringing in on herself-- and that future activities be kept private and secure.
I wasn't making a personal attack towards you particularly, but the people from past discussions that will undoubtedly have a slighted opinion in the topic. Trust me...they are much more passionate than you about how wrong this girl is.
needs to concern themselves with actual crime. I simple call to the parents of this girl is all that needed to happen. I think the real attention whore here is the local Sheriff.
I'm in total agreement will these posts. educate, don't punish. be curious, it's actually not that bad, unless of corse you're inviting danger, which she was.
Y'all are right. This isn't, and never was, about adults abusing small children e.g., by either encouraging them or forcing them into sexual activities.
This is a lot like the morons who claim children are being harmed by guns after (18 year old) children attack cops with guns, and predictably, the cops don't lose.
That said, there is no cage small enough to stuff a person into, who rapes a 2 year old and films it.
the law is the law, after all, writ in stone and the blood of millions who died for our current way of life and if we start making exceptions all will be chaos and anarchy. /devil's advocacy, begin common sense. oh, wait, there's plenty of sense in the comments above....
I think that the best response in such a case would be to talk to the parents, have her mySpace account revoked, and have her grounded for a few months with no internet.
Okay, it creeps me out how young she was, but are we really going to start labeling nude photos as pornography? I've always thought of pornography as a depiction of some sort of sex act, not simply a photo of a naked person.
"charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, would have to register as a sex offender and spend up to 17 years in jail if convicted."
harsh as hell. i dont understand she posted some pics of her naked, obv they will be all over the net in a matter or milli seconds, she was dumb. but she gets jail time for it??? wow its her body lmao. she intentionally posted them her self. like wow?
I remember about a decade ago that Barnes and Noble had sold two nudist magazines, Naturally and AANR's Nude and Natural. These magazines showed people of all ages nude, from babies to grandparents and everyone in between. Are these illegal now? Or do news stories downplay the severity of truly illegal photos, making any pictures seem against the law to the easily offended? It is like retail calling the cops if people turn in baby bathtub pictures to be developed. There have stories on shortnews that revealed legal documents stating exactly the type of photos the accused have had in their possession, and I feel saying to the cops, "Get 'em!" And then there are stories on here that make me just exclaim, "What!!??"
yes she was posting child porn... but of herself... remove the pictures, maybe even ban her account from uploading any more pictures and be done with it...
can i charge myself for being a pedaphile for masturbating before i was 18... doesn't this line of thinking just seem absurd, and yet thats basically what's happening here.
finally! was hoping someone would say. most girls without nude photos use that feature, where only friends that the user requests or accepts can view pictures.
and while nudes arent that common, youll have a hard time finding a teen girl who hasnt posed and taken sexy pictures for myspace or facebook
lol it's ludicrous man, but i don't think a boy masturbating would be considered paedophilia... unless he stuck a finger up his bum at the same time...
