good for Pres Obama just not to lay down, like some thought he would in a situation like this.

Lets see how far we go with this

she already broke laws in iran prior to espionage, the first of which was buying alcohol (thats illegal in iran), then working as a member of the press without press credential for the last 3 years, then she was charge and convicted, not simply accused...


she already was guilty of atleast the first two illegal acts before the espionage, as she was originally picked for for the alcohol incident... which is the equivelent to what the US does to drug users all the time (so right of the bat they be hypocrits to fight that, she didn't get a new press credential; thats her own fault and stupidity, as as for the espionage everyone is just assuming she can't be a spy... i guess everyone forgot about women like valerie plame, or a whole host of female spies the US has used through is history, nearly all spies live a double life, and none of them go around with spy credential officially annouancing them as a spy as she was convicted.

obama is basically demanding she no be accountable for laws she bot h has and has allegedly broken.

oh and just an FYI, she is getting about the same amount of time for espionage as she would in a few state for drug possession which is the equivelent to drug possesion as well in iran... assuming she is a spy, she's getting off light, and even if not she still has time to serve for her buying or attempt at buying alcohol and not having here press credentials.

now i don't agree with prohibition but she shouldn't be above the law just because she's american, hell as a canadian i could go to jail for buying smoking weed, simply foer no other reason that there a law written that says so, even if it doesn't make any sense.

As a freelancer, and having an Iranian background, I guess the limited posts/opportunities being dangled in front of her were limited. [read between the lines].

Having your press credentials *REVOKED* is basically like losing your driving license, or losing your uniform in wartime. If you get caught ...

Maybe she was a spy, maybe she was just an ambitious freelancer who needed the money - but collecting intelligence and recorded material and passing to a foreign party without press credentials does leave her with little mitigation.

It is VERY possible, she's innocent. But I know this for sure, an Afghani Freelancer recently revoked from the US being caught in front of the WhiteHouse - he'd be in a holding cell then to gitmo so fast, he'd be doing his next evening prayer an orange jumpsuit.
