Infant Fails Drug Screening
 

Kristin Lesley was taken into custody by Pickens County Sherriff after her newborn baby tested positive for methamphetamine.

She will be charged with child neglect and is being held on 7,500 USD bond at the Pickens County Detention Center. She is charged because her activities placed her unborn son in undue harm.

If the baby was in any kind of distress then they could've checked for anything that came to mind in the interest of diagnosis. They don't need a warrant or anything to diagnose a health problem of a patient in their care.

Doctors aren't dumb. I'd have taken one look at the mom and thought "crack baby"

you go into the hospital to have a baby if possible they generally get a urine sample as soon as your admitted and they probably drug test you right there. they also get blood from you and the baby w/in 24 of the birth and they probably check that too as well as other things...so theres really no hiding drug use.
it makes me sad someone would be so addicted they would expose their baby to such a vile substance

in the usa if you have a baby they ask you if you have done any "illegal substances" and if you even have pot in your system (6 weeks it stays in there folks unlike alcohol which is gone in 8 hours usually) they can take the child away at birth...

If you were smoking weed while you were pregnant then GOOD! You shouldn't be able to keep your baby. At LEAST not before drug counseling.
