After "some kinks", on Friday the developer team around Stephen Wolfram, a physicist, test launched the new internet tool called "WolframAlpha". It is a computational knowledge machine, which gives answers to questions a user asks.
Danny Sullivan from SearchEngineLand.com said: "I try to describe it as a 'fact search engine' to help people understand the degree that it's different from Google. Google tends to point to stuff while (WolframAlpha) actually have some answers."
While the possibility that WolframAlpha will be more successful than Google is being discussed the expert said that the engine won't try to "wipe out Google", since it has quite a different concept, namely the listing of knowledge like a encyclopedia.
