Missing Baby Found in Sandwich, Father Arrested

Massachusetts: 38-year-old John J. Fielding is in custody after assaulting the mother of his 11-month-old daughter and fleeing with the infant, telling the mother this was the last time she would ever see the child.

The incident sparked a police search which ended when Fielding contacted police and revealed his location in the town of Sandwich. When police arrived he became aggressive and had to be subdued with pepper spray. The infant is back with her mother.

As a result of the incident Fielding, who was drunk at the time of the incident, has been charged with felony child endangerment, violating a restraining order, and domestic assault and battery.

I was wondering if provolone went better than swiss with a baby but it had nothing to do with that at all... Such a disappointment.

read the title
Missing Baby Found in Sandwich, Father Arrested. Third word.
  by: John E Angel     06/05/2009 11:02 PM
  @John E Angel
It says Found. It doesn't specify the health of the baby.
  by: VermiciousG     06/05/2009 11:03 PM
but @dserna12 asked, 'was the baby found?'
  by: John E Angel     06/05/2009 11:12 PM
Sorry. Missed that.

Check out this link for 'different' city/town names in the US. 2 in PA in particular would be horrible sounding in your headline.

You and you're power of Illusion.
ixuzus, you nut. I was so psyched on sandwiches that I couldn't even see after reading the article that the man was actually found in the town of Sandwich. I really, actually did not perceive that at all in the article until I read a comment on the town name.
  by: LykosSN4   06/06/2009 06:50 AM
I live about 40 minutes from Sandwich, Ma. Therefore, I immediately assumed the Sandwich in question from the title was in fact the town, and not two pieces of bread full of baby... though I can imagine the shock to those of you who aren't familiar with the town. :P
  by: wreathofbarbs   06/06/2009 09:07 AM
You could say it was a Ham Sandwich..OHHH
  by: steve2045     06/06/2009 11:03 AM
I've been to Sandwich, MA. We toured the early American pressed glass museum there.

Great title!
  by: Lurker     06/06/2009 05:28 PM
I've been to Sandwich, IL so I should have seen that coming. I didn't realize there was one in MA - so at least 2 people thought it was a good idea to name their town Sandwich?
  by: steiner85   06/07/2009 07:08 PM
Or the same guy just going around immortalizing his love of sandwiches.
  by: VermiciousG     06/07/2009 07:16 PM

  by: Lois_Lane     06/08/2009 08:38 AM
2nd paragraph... "The infant is back with her mother."

You should have read the whole summary ;-)

Great title Ix, glad to see I wasn't the only one expecting a gruesome tale of cannibalism - glad it all turned out better than the title implies! :-D
  by: TabbyCool     06/08/2009 02:11 PM
The sandwich was invented in Sandwich - Sandwich, in Kent, England by John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich. So whilst it might sound like a funny name for a town, it was a town first, the snack came later.

  @ Second Duke of Sandwich
There should be an award for most comments illicited about a sandwich joke
