2-Year-Old Boy Has Pack-a-Day Smoking Habit; Dad is OK With it

The world's youngest smoker may be a 2-year-old in China named Tong Liangliang. His father let him start the habit, now at a pack per day, with the belief that it would bring relief to a hernia that Tong suffers from.

A radio report said: "The father wasn’t aware of how serious the toddler’s habit became until the child began to increase the number of cigarettes he smoked per day." Tong's habit began at 18 months, and now throws tantrums when he can't light up.

  hey

You make him quit now, and it will be the easiest time quitting smoking in the history of man

He's can't light up by himself. Just stop giving him cigarettes

  @syoware

He might be able to light up, but he can't buy them himself and I bet he can't reach very high - not difficult to keep them away from him if the parent's actually wanted him to stop.

  wonder if

this is the video of the kid smoking a cig. while sitting on the front of a motorcycle, his dad behind him. and people around laughing.

I'd almost wish for an early death of the kid.

Smoking that young must have more horrible after effects than later.

the problem is corruption... i can't remember how long ago this was, several years at least from when i first heard about it, but at one point the chinese government so corrupted to such a degree by the tobacco industry that the government was actually telling its people smoking was good for you... infact even know they are encouraging their workers to smoke more to raise more taxes:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/...

so with this, you can see the problem china has and WILL have will be to a degree unseen, esspecially with a population of 1.3 billion.

as for the article:

in my opinion this kid will be lucky if he sees 20 at this rate, since his body can't even be close to developed yet, and that includes his heart and lungs.

  HMM

That kid will probably die early. Why would you let a two-year-old smoke. Geez some people are so damn stupid.

  I wonder

what will this kid say to his dad when they are removing one lung and giving him a tracheotomy at 20. Maybe something like "Thanks for trying to help with that hernia, dad." (in robot voice of course)

  What surprised me

Is how cavalier China apparently is when it comes to child abuse.
