Teacher And Ex-Big Brother Charged With Sex Crimes

Whitney Middle School science teacher and former Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer John Gisler, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, is facing a multitude of charges including forcible sodomy, second degree rape, and lewd molestation.

The accuser, 17, told the police that Gisler made him watch porn with him at the time of the molestations when he was just 14 years old, and Gisler was his Big Brother.

Additional charges may be pending after a police affidavit this week confirmed that child pornography was found on the man's computer.

Not. I've always assumed that Big Brothers/Big Sisters has at least some pedophiles in it.

I am sure that some get through the process, just like it seems more and more are sneaking into the schools.

The ability of sex offenders blending into society is getting harder and harder to find them out.

I mean hell the amount of female sex offenders in the last 10-15 years astounds me.

  stating the obvious
Well they are definitely drawn to certain professions and hobbies. The most common I see on crime sites are things like school janitors, youth ministers, coaches, teachers of private lessons, party clowns, etc. And of course, Catholic priests.

Exactly And the shame is it makes it hard to trust anyone in those areas. It truly hurts those that do want to help kids or make a difference.

Awhile ago we had a very close call with an after school counselor who was found to have not only a house full of child porn AND a self storage shed full of the same sick movies and images..he also messed with several young girls of his close friends. When it happened I was so off kilter because he had us fooled for over 2 years.

We even trusted this man so much he was going to bring my girls to the hospital after one of my surgeries so my husband could be with me. He was arrested that week before he could get the chance to try anything.

Thankfully my girls were not a victim, but my oldest thinks a few of her friends might have been.

He is now in prison for 50 year sentances. By the grace of whoever, whatever, or just pure common sense and luck he will never be released and never allowed to destroy anyone elses life.

  it's unfortunate
but you really have to be on your guard when you have kids. My sister has an young son and one of her male acquaintances asked, out of the blue, if she needed anyone to babysit him. You hate to think the worst but why on earth would someone volunteer to babysit the son of someone he doesn't even know that well? Someone who is a stay-at-home mom who was not even asking for help? You have to watch out. I've only had my sisters babysit my children because I don't trust anyone!

  @ gryphon50a
I have offered single mother friends of mine to babysit, I pretty much raised my nephew and its nothing new nor difficult for me, and I also know how very little free 'me' time single mothers get.

While I agree be careful, just because someone is being nice is no reason to level them as a molester trying to get in on a new mark.
This is the problem with the world currently; every time someone tries to be nice just for the sake of it someone accuses them of something horrendous. For some people it is impossible to think anyone can do anything without some sinister ulterior motive of perverse personal gain.
Sometimes people are just nice and like to help.

this person did not know my sister well- he was like a friend of a friend. I stand by what I said, I do think it's unusual to offer babysitting services to someone who does not need them and isn't asking. Yes, it's sad when you can't give people the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to my children's safety, I would rather be safe than sorry.

ssxx I understand what you are saying. These freaks that harm kids also do damage to the true kindhearted men and women that want to be a positive influence in a child's life.

Gryph is saying what a lot of people now feel, that they just can't trust their kids with anyone. I will add in even sometimes with your own family members.

The freak that was working at my girls after school had been there so long and we had gotten to know each other better, to the point that we let our guards down. And when everything came out it did more damage to the other fantastic men and women in the program because now they feel everyone is looking at them as a molester or kiddie porn freak.

The damages these sick freak assholes do goes so much deeper and further than the immediate victims. No amount of jail they get will ever fix it either.
