Study: Doing Healthy Stuff Makes You Healthy

According to two new studies published in the July 22-29 issue of Journal of the American Medical Association, if you live a healthy lifestyle of eating right and exercising you can significantly reduce your chances of cardiovascular disease.

One study involved male patients and examined the relationship between heart failure and six factors: obesity, exercise, smoking, alcohol intake, consumption of breakfast cereals and consumption of fruits and vegetables.

The women's study analyzed blood pressure against six factors: obesity, exercise, alcohol intake, use of painkillers, adherence to diet to reduce blood pressure, and folic acid supplement intake.

Stop wasting money and do some real scientific studies, who paid these scientist's to find this out, i'm sure any 2 year old could tell you what the scientists found out ...

  Yep

and genetics are even more important. I had relatives that never did anything healthy in their lives and lived to their late 80's and 90's. It's all a crap shoot. Who wants to be old these days anyway? What with Alzheimer's and no insurance. We were better off dying earlier.

From the source:

"Previous studies have shown benefit from individual lifestyle factors," Djousse said. "We looked at all of these factors together."

That look found a straight-line relationship between adherence to healthy lifestyle factors and the risk of heart failure, the progressive loss of ability to pump blood that is often a prelude to death.

You say that these studies are a waste, but without constant study we would be left in the dark.

For example, if we never questioned a smokers habit perhaps we would still be seeing ads to "switch to a safer cigarette" or "use menthol to avoid the throat damaging heat of a cigarette."

A study might show up that proves that if fat people exercise too much they actually put extra stress on their internals and increase their risk of heart failure. And in that case, exercise may not be healthy.

Of course, as soon as they release that study some guy with huge muscles will get on the TV and start selling an in-home no-movement do-it-yourself zero-impact fitness solution.

  The cause is already known

I study a branch of medicine called orthomolecular medicine. This field was founded by Linus Pauling, a 2 time Noble Prize winner and the greatest chemist of the last 200 years. The cause of arterialscerosis and it's prevention has been known since 1941. This discovery is ignored for the most part by the medical community and unknown to most except for those who have reversed their disease. Pauling discovered it is lipoprotiens that causes the plaques to adhere to the arterial walls, not cholesterol and that rising levels of cholesterol is a symptom , not a cause. Raising the levels of free circulating lysine bind with the lipoprotiens and prevents sticking and can actually remove existing plaques over time. Ascorbic acid is needed to heal the stresses and damage within the arteries, especially in the areas around the heart where the hardest pounding and stresses happen and small cracks form. This is pretty much like stepping on a water hose thousands of times a day, mechanical stresses causes the tiny cracks. If you do not have enough ascorbic acid the body will raise cholesterol to serve as a patch to cover the damaged areas.

Do you know anyone who has this problem and is taking all the cholesterol lowering statin drugs, blood thinners, getting stints and bypasses and doing all the standard treatments of the day? Is their condition reversing and they will soon be arterialscerosis free? Nea.... They will steadily get worse and their condition progress until it eventually kills them, these things do not reverse the disease at all because they are not the cause.

Read this link if you need further proof and do your own research to form your own opinion..

Thanks for that info. Ummm. Where do I get a six-pack of acsorbic acid?

I think longevity is linked to the brain- if you can keep your mind from falling into dementia, senility, etc... then you stand a better chance of avoiding many problems, and have a better chance of recovery.
