Pelosi Proposes Congress Should Work Through August Recess on Health Care
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said at a news conference today that Congress should be willing to give up its month-long August recess and spend that time working on health care reform. She highlighted the stories of people who have huge medical bills.
One woman, Molly Secours of Nashville, spoke about how "there were days I prayed I wouldn't make it, because I knew what I would face when it was over." After treatments for uterine cancer, she is $25,000 in debt and may lose her home.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said he doesn't see the point in working through August if there's no consensus on a health care reform bill by then.
I don't agree with either of you. These congressmen are from all over the US. They fly back and forth, constantly moving, never really getting a rest. When they do get a rest, it is rather short. The families don't get to see their fathers and mothers for very long, if at all. I believe they are grossly overpaid, but I do not believe they do not deserve a rest period. Also, most of them are not resting, they are working during that period. Its just a rest period from Congress. I am sure some will take a vacation, but I guarantee you they do work on the vacation as well.
What I mean by they work during that period, is that they are doing political work.
Don't get me wrong, I know that they do other things as well, most likely stuff we don't agree with. But, I still say that if they go for long periods having to deal with the huge bills recently passed (but not read over.. AIG), then they deserve a break.
The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd. The Pope said, "Did you know that with just one little wave of MY hand I can make EVERY person in the crowd go crazy with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display like that of your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever speak of this day and rejoice." Pelosi seriously doubts this, and says, "One little wave of your hand, and all people will rejoice forever?? Show me", she said.
...so the Pope slapped her.
Typical, spend and waste someone else's money. I suppose she feels the need to be as our President, and figures she must keep spending it to get us out of debt. Personally I wish they would go on break. I'm tired as hell writing these fools in respponse to the crappy job they are doing. Send them all home, better yet, fire every damn one of them and just let Obama take care of us. After all isn't he the Messiah?

any...I repeat this...any passage of any law like this (and there are quite a few) are unconstitutional. According to Amendment 10 of the US Constitution, this power should rest solely with the states, as it is not explicitly defined in this document. It's in black and white. This country was founded to be a republic, which is a far cry from the Utopian Socialist looking entity that we see today. If this bill is going to be passed, it would have to be done via amendment. According to this document, the supreme law of the land, that supercedes all others, nothing short of an amendment would allow for this.
