Moon Rover to Possibly Explore Apollo 11 Site

As part of the Google Lunar X Prize competition, Team Astrobotic is competing with their plans to land a rover on the moon that will be able to conduct research at the 40-year-old Apollo 11 landing site.

The rover is planned to land a safe distance (Over 1 km) from the historical site. After reaching the site, it's planned to send back high-definition photos of markings and footprints left by the first men on the moon.

Care will be taken not to disturb the area whilst the research is active. There are 17 teams currently in the running for the $30 million prize money. All teams must navigate at least 500 meters (1,640 ft) and send images back to Earth to qualify.
