Poll: Throw US Congress Out

A new Rasmussen poll has shown 57% of Americans would like to vote to throw every person in Congress out of office and start over. The poll also shows 18% aren’t sure and only 25% of voters would keep the current members in power.

Seventy percent of Americans who have no party affiliation would also vote to get rid of the current members, while 43 percent of Democrats would vote to keep the current members in power, which has risen 18 percentage points since last fall.

The poll also states that voters feel they understand more about health care reform than Congress. Only 22% of voters feel congress has a good understanding of the issue and about 74% think they have a better judgement of the economy than Congress.

a few more numbers discussing the public option and how 1 in every 4 Americans dont understand the public option.

Democratic support for keeping everyone in is expected due to well it being controlled by democrats.

Count me in as one of those who says throw them out and start fresh as far as I''m concerned most are in thier to push thier agenda and dont give a damn about us.

The source also gives a good point while America feels this way theu keep voting the same people in

if they could outlaw the lobbyists.

From The Article:
That Amongst democrats the congressional ratings have improved

“… [The] number of Democrats who would vote to keep the entire Congress has grown from 25% last fall to 43% today,” the firm added. “In fact, a modest plurality of Democrats would now vote to keep the legislators. Last fall, a plurality of Democrats were ready to throw them all out.”

"69 percent of Republicans feel their legislators are “out of touch with the party base.”

These findings lead me to believe the Republicans are becoming more disenchanted with their party.

outlaw lobbyists, then make congress and senate seats a lottery.. kinda like jury duty, but the only way to be included in the lottery would be to have a masters or doctorates.. educated people who strived for a common goal. It might even give the kids something to look forward to.

  "Funny"

"The poll also states that voters feel they understand more about health care reform than the Congress."

"Of course, there is objective evidence to prove that this poll is false. Indeed, in the recent poll conducted for AARP, just thirty-seven percent of Americans could correctly identify what is meant by a "public option".":

"Nearly one-half of voters either thought it was a total nationalized healthcare program, or admitted that they had no idea. "

72% of all Americans believe that medical costs are to high while 51% of Americans believe that those costs should be lowered.

Meaning of course that 21% of Americans believe that medical costs are to high and that nothing should be done about it.

Maybe the French are right. Maybe we are stupid.

The French (and everybody else) are right. That you even consider it, shows you have potential. :P

Don't worry, it isn't just America. *sigh*

  The Government

is going to be taking steps to bring about martial law, cause we are going to overthrow them. It's only a matter of time. this is a good example. I think the american public isn't QUITE as dumb as the education system has set it up to be. We want action, we want change, and obama isn't what we're talking about here. Take back your country people... Our goverment from party to president is corrupt and diseased. It needs a cure. We are that cure.

  Actually..

the people are kind of ignorant.

As for "taking country back" I always wonder...to what? What is "the cure"? What would a revolution place it with? I don't think those who scream this even agree on this point..

Seems to me many are mad as hell but do not even really know why.

Agreed. Frankly I'm shocked at the arrogance and hubris this poll reveals. I can understand feeling that one hasn't been served by Congress, or that it hasn't delivered acceptable results, but deciding it's because one, personally, is more knowledgeable? That makes me worry as much about the people as the politicians, especially when it's a subject like the economy. These days everyone seems to think that their simple solutions would answer such complicated questions, that strong opinions firmly stated makes one an expert and from this we get our Sam Wurzelbachers and Sarah Palins.

Some would say the patients are running the asylum, but evidently it matters not because we're ALL crazy.

  I agree

that the bribery by lobbyists should be outlawed. Congress should do the average citizen's work and not special interests' work. Congress has been bought and paid for by greedy capitalists for years. It should stop.

I think the big thing would be, to have a Congress that cannot be bought by any financial, corporate, or military influences. Bar any one from running or being appointed with former or current ties to large corporate or banking powers. Institute standardized testing for all potential candidates covering American History, Government, Economics, Sciences, Language, and Sociology, along with any other correlating subjects, and have those scores available to the public for each candidate. Remove all political parties. Stand on your own ideals and philosophies instead of a political platform.

The Money Is The Core Problem

and the problem with the money is the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled the money a free speech issue.

Its kind of a "Catch 22".

  by: ichi     08/31/2009 10:23 PM
  Another thing...

Prosecute and remove/impeach anyone who has violated the Logan Act. The Logan Act states it is a felony for federal workers to meet with and discuss foreign policy with foreign officials in private. That means any politicians who have attended Bilderburg, The Council on Foreign Relations, The Trilateral Commission, and any other private entity should be removed from power.

As for "taking country back" I always wonder...to what?
What would a revolution place it with?

How about this for a long forgotten change?? NO Democrates,Republicans or Independants representing themsleves, but instead, leaders who are Conservative Grass root Americans. Ones that stand for and will actually honor our Constitution the way it is written, instead of trying to rewrite it. Those who will defend and not try and take away our Freedom of speech. Ones that see the need to secure our boarders, and will say," we do not reward illegal activity no matter what the reason." Ones that our not afraid to enforce our laws. Leaders who will strengthen our military not tear it down. Show the world we are the most poweful nation in the world and we are a force to be reckoned with.
Are you aware it has been mentioned indirectly on these lines, that Obama because of his vision to "Remake America" is being referred to by some as a new founding father!! We need representives who know who our founding fathers are and realise there is no need to find new ones.
It's not like we have to learn how to do this, we just need to implement what we already know.

For some this poll is hard to believe and comprehend. We have a Government who cut our military spending but yet wants to build a civilian army as powerful as and would be as well funded as our military.
Don't you find it a tad scary when he didn't disclose the most important part," who the enemy is". Who will this civilian army be fighting?
Why is it so hard to fathom people are fed up with our Representatives and Presidents for years doing what they do best, Non Representing!
It has gotten so far out of hand we have a government labeling private citizens as "Non American" (and worse) because they question with anger and voice their opposition to a health care bill they do not want. Lets put an end to making people feel like they are a racist if they question our President's thoughts and motives because he is half black. We need a governmentthat is not afraid to let its people express freely to that of which they oppose, not one that make then fearful of retaliation because they spoke out. How about we oust representives like Harry Reid who tries to bully and states he hopes a newspaper will go out of business simply because the largest Paper The Neveda Times printed an article in the Sunday column, titled “Enough Is Enough, Harry,” bySherman Frederick. Knocked him down a few pegs to say the least. I would hope his 3rd grade type temper tantrum cost him his re-election.

So isn't it about time we return to a government who serves the wants and needs of the citizens and country instead of acting like they are better then us running down our throats what they say we need. Aren't you tired of politicians on both side lying threw their teeth every time they open the whole in their face? Isn't it time we stop them from lining their pockets with our money and taking bribes from lobbyist and corps? It is not like we can pretend its not happening. They don't live like we do perhaps it is time they do. I don't think it is to much to demand, after all we are the Boss.

Of course we have that 22% in this country who WANT the government to handle everything and they truly believe it is the best way. This hides the fact they can't survive on their own and need things to be handed to them. They lose direction and find themselves lost and need to be led like sheep back to the farm. There are a few in here. Without a doubt they will oppose this article and what I say. Then we have the 18% that aren't sure. Probably the illegals. You know as it stands right now their opinions matter and so do their votes.

As far as throwing out the congress.
ANY representative who voted for but failed to read the largest spending bill in the history of the United States, wrote by the Apollo alliance no less, should be thrown out without question.

Finally after years of BS people had enough and are waking up.. Over 57% and growing steady. It's a matter of time and maybe this time around we won't have any representative forget who they work for. Hopefully if we get our country back, we have learned our lesson to not let our government become our master. It has been said throughout the years and holds true today, United We Stand.
