Cop Vs Rodney King The Sequel

Rodney King, the famed victim of a severe police beating which sparked the LA riots, has agreed to take on an infamously aggressive police officer in a bout of charity boxing.

The police officer in question, Simon Aouad, said he would beat Mr. King so badly that he was going to wish he was in LA. Aouad, 31, was expelled from the Philadelphia police force because he says he "couldn't follow the rules."

This is the latest in a string of bizarre attempts to turn Mr. King into a reality TV star and will be shown on pay-per-view television at a cost of $25. The fight will take place at a hotel near the city airport.

  I wonder

if he has started drinking again. Last I had read he had actually turned his house into a sober living house like he had told whats-his-face the Dr.

I watched one of the Celebrity Rehab episodes that was mostly about him and the crazy guy that was all doped up..shifty I think it is. King really impressed me on the episode with his wanting to stay sober and not just because the camera was on and then when he said he wants to make his house a sober house I thought that was great. I really like the idea of them for recovering addicts because they will have that support there 24/7 because someone is always home.

That ex-cop sounds like an ass.

While this may be entertaining on the surface, the fact that they are having Rodney relive a traumatic experience by putting him into a fist fight with an ex-cop could be an endangerment to his sobriety. If this cop actually does wind up putting up a fight or winning it could make him feel completely helpless against the people that attacked him.

That alone could spark a relapse. Knowing the entertainment industry, some prick in a suit is using this guy to make a quick buck and its sad. He seemed like a decent guy with a drinking problem when I saw him on the rehab show.

If the cop wins do we get to riot again?

Oh I am sure that the cop he is going against will be very serious about the match. I wish that Rodney could have done something else to make money. If he is that desperate to play along with this I think you are right and there is a serious danger to his sobriety. Maybe he can call some of the people that were on the show with him for support (if they haven't relapsed.)
